Many friends, readers and bloggers ask me why both Genevieve and Anne, main characters in Shadows of the Past have, what is usually called as psychic powers.
I, in my humble opinion, consider that we all have the potential to develop our psychic abilities and to use them to enhance our personal and spiritual life. Being psychic has nothing extra-ordinary or mysterious – it's a natural state of being for everyone.
From the moment we are born we have psychic abilities. The same with our other senses - taste, smell, sight, hearing, sensation. Teleportation of an object, aura reading, clairvoyance, mediumship, energy healing, telepathy, telekinesis, bodily levitation or flying are terms that are familiar to everyone. I have no doubt that each one of you has had the opportunity to watch, on Discovery channel, at least one episode of Dynamo the magician. A young British man who levitates, teleports and even walks on water, among other awesome things. If we take into consideration that we are all made from the same source and stuff, it means that, like him, we can all develop such talents, abilities if we choose to.
People ask me if I really believe in such things or just invented them for the sake of the story. My answer is, I absolutely do believe in the abilities my characters have, in a kind of sixth sense that makes us become aware of dangers or events that may affect us.
There are many people who consider that psychic abilities do not really exist and they ignore any form of intuition or impression. Haven't you ever sat quietly and, suddenly, thought about a friend, a relative and, a few moments later, the phone rings and that person is on the other end? Have you never had a kind of gut feeling that something is about to happen to you? Or you've felt the need to be careful? Have you never felt a slight prickling sensation at the back of our heads and turned around to see someone staring at you?
I can tell you that I had such experiences, premonitory dreams and feelings, especially in connection with dear members of my family. And this is what made me enhance my characters with such gifts: psychic abilities or extrasensory perception.
The special gift my characters, Genevieve and Anne, posses is seen differently by the contemporaries of the two young women in my novel. Genevieve is in danger of being accused of witchcraft by her country people of 1480 and leads her to a lot of troubles. While for Anne, five hundred years later, her abilities are seen as something, if not ordinary, at least fascinating and don't lead her to being considered a freak or a menace.
Of course, you'll find out what their gift is only after reading the book, Shadows of the Past. You won't regret it.
I believe in psychic senses as well. I myself cant move things with my mind but I believe there are people who can.I can sense when something has happenned to a loved one of mine .
Yes Wanda, it's what happens to me, too. I think if our modern life would be less stressful and demanding and we'd try to find out more about our inner abilities, we'd be able to use some of them. I don't think that scientists, especially Americans and Russians, would have invested time and money to study these capabilities if they hadn't believed they were real.

It's impossible to ignore the fact that we all have some kind of ability. I listen to my intuitive feelings.
I have had amazing experiences both with psychics and healers as well as my own premonitions. In some cultures/countries where religion has a strong political force these are frowned upon, but I am so amazed how many individuals do lead a sort of "occult" life in theri beliefs and experiences.
I am so curious now about Anne and Genevies abilities!!!!! Fantastic Post. Thanks Carmen and Thanks Larissa for inviting this great lady from Romania.
I love reading about psychic abilities but I don't think they exist in real life. Thanks for sharing!
Great post for an excellent and compelling read. The psychic powers of both Genevieve and Anne played really well into the story line. I think a lot of us ignore our intuitive sense which is a door to psychic ability. The thinking of someone and the phone rings to find it is they, etc. paying attention to what is and not just what one believes opens interesting doors. Reading this story tapped me into that and really enhanced the read. Thank you for featuring one of my favorite paranormal authors and books. Paulette (p.s. Stanford University did research in the 60s on remote reviewing and psychic seeing, which validated it. I only write this in case someone reads this and it is a turn off. This read does not disappoint.)
Thank you Paulette for your lovely words about my novel and for backing the subject of my post. I am glad we share the same convictions.
I love the guest post!
