Hey Guys! Let’s welcome here today Author extraordinaire, Cynthia Eden! One of the nicest authors I have ever met online! =D
Hope you enjoy the interview and the giveaway bellow!
- When did you first start writing?
I think I wrote my first story in elementary school. I was totally addicted to fairy tales then, and it was my own version of Beauty & the Beast.
- Have you always been interested in Romance?
I read my first romance novel when I was about 12 years old. It was THE ASKING PRICE, a Harlequin romance. I instantly became hooked to happy endings.
- Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
Almost anything can inspire me. I love reading paranormal books and can often be inspired by a trip to the movies. When I saw the Underworld films, they immediately made me want to write a werewolf novel, and Criminal Minds pushed me to write romantic suspense stories.
As for writers, Edgar Allan Poe was one of the first to inspire me. I love his darkness.
- What is your favorite subject in the Romance Realm?
In romances, it is a tough call—because I love to write both paranormal tales and romantic suspense novels. But, either way, my books focus on a lot of intense action scenes, so I’ll just say that the action is my favorite part.
- The sex scenes in your books are amazingly hot. Where do you get your inspiration?
LOL, thank you! Vin Diesel inspires me some…
- Do you find it hard to write them?
I actually think sex scenes are *the* hardest part of writing a romance. It’s not just about the sex; instead, you also have to add emotional layering to the scene and it can be difficult to balance those two aspects.
Favorites:
- Favorite Movie? Anacondas: Hunt For the Blood Orchid :)
- Favorite TV Show? Supernatural
- Favorite Book? Dream Man by Linda Howard
- Favorite Author? Edgar Allan Poe
- Favorite Romance Author? Too many to count! But I’ll list a few…Jayne Ann Krentz, Christine Feehan, Linda Howard, Larissa Ione, Shannon McKenna, Lora Leigh…
- Favorite Genre that is NOT your own? Horror
- Favorite one of your Books? Oh, no! This is like asking me to pick a favorite child (um, that’s easier b/c I only have one child!). When I’m writing a book, that book is my favorite. I am deep into the characters, deep into the plot, and I love the story. It’s the best for me. Then that book ends and I go on to another tale…and the favorite cycle continues.
- Who is your favorite of your own characters?
Niol Lapen (Midnight’s Master) is my favorite. I’d originally intended for him to be a hard-core villain, but over the course of three books, Niol changed. While he never became a “good” guy, he turned into a character who stole a part of my heart.
- Which was the hardest to write? Why? Niol, again! He was a tough guy, but I needed to redeem him so that readers could fall in love with him. However, I couldn’t redeem him too much. Niol was a level-ten demon; he’d never be sunshine and light. I had to balance the darkness in him while showing that he could be a hero, too.
- What would you be if not a writer?
I’d be a school teacher. That’s what I was before I switched to writing full-time. I loved kids, and I always enjoyed hearing their fun take on life.
- If you Could be a Fictional Character, Who would you be?
Mina, from Dracula—and I would totally change that story!
Quickies:
- Reading or Writing? Writing
- Print or eBook? eBook
- Hardback or Paperback? Paperback
- Pepsi or Coke? How about Sprite?
- Mc D's or Burger King? McD’s!
- YA novels or Adult novels? Both, please.
- Library or Bookstore? Bookstore
- Summer or Winter? Summer
- The Movie or The Book? The book
- Romance or Action? Again—both, please!
- What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I love when I first begin to brainstorm a book. Anything is possible when you first begin to type!
- What is your least favorite part?
Editing. I like to get the story out and move forward, editing slows me down.
- The Night Watch & The Deadly series in your own words?
The Night Watch series started from this idea: Sometimes, it can take a monster in order to catch a killer. My Night Watch bounty hunters are all supernatural creatures, and they spend their nights tracking down the killers that human cops just can’t handle.
As for my Deadly series, I think of that as a sexy Criminal Minds. My agents work for the SSD—a fictional branch of the FBI that targets and apprehends serials. The stories are dark, sexy, and full of twists.
- What is coming up next for you?
In July, my werewolf romance, NEVER CRY WOLF, will release from Kensington Brava. Then, in December, ANGEL OF DARNKESS will kick-off my fallen angel series. So far, there are four books planned that will feature my angels of death.
- What are you working on right now?
ANGEL IN CHAINS. It’s the third book in my series. My hero is a guy who needs some serious redemption, but instead, he’s just finding death.
- Do you have any advice or tip to those like me that want to become a published Author someday?
Yes! Read in your genre—read a lot. The best way to learn craft is to read and study the books that are out there. Follow your dream and don’t give up.
- Anything you would like to say to your fans out there?
Thank you! Thank you for buying my books, for reading my stories! Thank you for the emails you’ve sent!
- Thanks so much for being here!
