Bedrock is a book about a woman and the choices she makes in her life. This is the story of Addison.
Addison was a child depraved from loving touch since she lost her parents at a very young age and she realizes that love doesn't come cheap. As we follow her footsteps we see her as a college student foul in love and dreams meeting the man of her dreams, we see her as young mother way over her head with the problems of childbearing and upbringing, we see her as a young woman struggling to make something of her life except being the trophy wife her husband intended her to be.
I felt an instant connection with Addison, especially since motherhood wasn’t what I expected either. Being a parent is difficult most of the times and it gets a turn for the worst when you are a stay-at-home parent. Suddenly what defines you as a person is you child, well Addison didn’t like that (neither do I to be honest).
“Time seemed inconsequential. The days dragged on, bled from on to another, all seeming exactly the same. Minutes gave way to hours and the hours into days then months. Addie wondered what she did to deserve this. She wondered why she wasn’t good enough and how she could fail at something that was supposed to be innate. Who failed at motherhood, anyway?”
As Addison struggles to find the woman in her she discovers many things hidden, she finds power, she finds peace in her choices, and she discovers the truth about her life and everyone around her.
In this journey our heroine is not alone although her husband remains on the sidelines Addison meets people who see in her what she failed to see in herself all her life; William gives her another meaning in love and Sondra gives her.....well, she gives her ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES…..
In the beginning of this book we meet a woman trying to find her footing and her purpose in life and by the end we say goodbye to a strong, confident one.
