Hi, my name is Larissa. No, I am not the same Larissa you have seen around this internet blog thingy. That’s just a mortal I have under my command. Why do we have the same name? Well, I actually have no idea what her name is, she told me but I never bothered to learn it, so I just call her my own name to make things simpler. I mean, how much of my precious time should I waste in learning a minion’s name, after all?
This is my first time writing a post on this blog thingy, and I’m only here today because I was invited by a mortal named Jo Lynne Valerie, who also apparently writes books, who knows?! Well, my minion convinced me to participate, she said it would be good for the blog, so I whipped her said yes. She had a post for Day 2 of the Blog Tour Yesterday, so don’t forget to check that out!
I also figured it was my chance to get the word out on my real feelings about Halloween, such a despicable day that has the audacity of being referred to as a Holiday!
Before I get to my “Five Reasons Halloween Sucks, But NOT in a Good Way”, I think I should tell a little bit about me…
I was born in 1473 in Portugal. My father was an explorer working under a man named Pedro Alvarez Cabral. In 1500 I had just turned 27 when my father decided to accompany this Pedro fellow in his quest to reach the Indias. I was still unmarried, so my father thought best I go with him and be of service, than stay behind and keep tarnishing the family name.
The trip was utterly boring and we didn’t even reach the place we were supposed to. We ended up in a place that someone named Brasil, after a tree that grew there. The land was quite beautiful and I was happy enough to be there, especially since I had met a worker during the trip named Manuel, oh Manuel...
The thing is, we didn’t know that there were natives on land and it took a while before they made themselves known. One night we were at camp when shadows started rushing by. I thought it were animals coming to see who the invaders were, but it was the natives and they attacked us.
I don’t really remember anything after I got knocked down. I remember pain and thinking I was dead, but after what seemed like days later, I woke up at night to find that I wasn’t human anymore and all my people had been killed. The natives were surrounding me when I came to, and that was when my real life began.
I am a Vampira, as the natives called me and the only reason I wasn’t killed with my people was my gender. Apparently all their females had been killed by a weird virus and since I was the only woman in my Caravan, I got to live or unlive…
Well, over 500 years later and here I am living my unlife and trying to get the word out about how awful Halloween is. You want to know what I do now? Well, that is something for a different post, if I ever feel like writing one… This one is getting too long already.
Five Reasons Halloween Sucks, But NOT in a Good Way!
- It’s not enough that my kind gets ridiculed in Hollywood and books, *cough*sparklyingvamps*cough* but to have a day when people actually try to dress up as you and end up just looking like someone got carried away with the flour when baking… Preposterous!
- Seeing little kids dressing up as so-called monsters. How rude! I mean you don’t see me dressing up as a politician for Halloween, those are monsters to me, not werewolves, witches, shifters and Ghosts. Every year I have to console Jasper and Monica, because you people always hurt their feelings by calling them monsters and I’ve met very nice witches through the years, though they do tend to be bitches. Why do you think the words are so similar? Duh!
- Candy? Really? Where the hell did that tradition come from? Well, never mind, of course Lucy would have come up with that one… Giving kids candy, a sure fire way to get into Lucy’s team.
- I might not hate this day so much just because it is the one day in the year, when I can go out as myself. But, it is just cruel to dangle that juicy neck in front of me! What am I supposed to do for the rest of the damned year? Sulk around in the shadows waiting for a tasty neck to pass by? Well, I already do that! So, There!
- Every Damned year, Jasper and I bet that more people will dress up as a Vampire or a Werewolf. For years I have won the bet, but ever since that damned sparkling vamp’s books and movies, not to mention that TV show, True Blood (don’t even get me started on that!); people have been dressing up more and more as werewolves. Last year I almost LOST! I can’t lose! I just… can’t! There is a LOT at stake here,
dinnerpeople! A LOT!
Ok ok, I’ll stop ranting! Now, I agreed to do something called “Giveaway”, but I don’t really know how the hell this works, so I’ll just make it simple:
