Most teens turn sixteen and get the license to drive, Lil Falcon gets the license to kill demons, but no one told her she is not supposed to fall in love with one. Orphaned as a child and raised by an eccentric grandfather, Lil is concerned with surviving high school and is unaware she's a Guardian—a being with super powers charged with killing demons and protecting humanity. But when she meets Bran, a mysterious boy with amazing abilities, his psi energy unlocks her latent powers. But Bran has a secret that can destroy their growing relationship. He's part demon. But in her heart, Lil knows Bran is not evil. So when her grandfather is kidnapped by a powerful nature-bender and Bran is the only one who knows where he's being kept, Lil convinces the other Guardians to trust him, not knowing her grandfather is just the bait. And the truth that she discovers in the demonic enclave may just destroy everything she believes in, unless she makes the right choice—love and sacrifice.

Lil Falcon is a girl who like most of us wants to get through school and see what's next. Little does she know that she's about to find out a lot more about herself. Raised by her grandfather as she was orphaned as a child. She soon finds out she's a Guardian and has super powers! Then she meets Bran and this intriguing boy with his talents make for an interesting tale.
But Bran is part demon, Guardian's get rid of demons but Lil is sure Bran is not evil. Soon Lil has big decisions to make about love... I enjoyed this book and the different way this was written. I also found the character detail and the helpful guide at the front about the characters very handy. Great to be able to go back to one page rather than search back trying to remember who someone was. But even through the story I found it easy to follow even though it goes through at some pace.
Lil was likeable, a strong feminine who was no pushover and Bran was just the perfect man but to be honest I didn't feel I learnt a lot about him other than his feelings for Lil. I liked all of the characters, even the bad ones which maybe wasn't the point as I didn't find them threatening or to cause concern for the others. I'd have definitely liked more scenes with Lil and Bran and to learn more about Bran himself.
Last point is his name, Bran - doesn't scream sex appeal but maybe that's me... I look forward to more from this series
