Author Appreciation Week [Day #1] – Agatha Christie, The Mystery Queen
Categories :
When I think about the beginning of my career as a reader, there are many books in my childhood that come to mind. But when I track down the start of my reading addiction and obsession, Agatha Christie is definitely the main star.
I remember browsing the local used bookstore for every single book of hers I could find, asking the owner to call me when something more showed up and after a long while I was able to gather 84 of her 85 books. I cannot remember which book is the one missing for me to read.
I remember spending hours and days in bed with her books, reading like crazy and going through 4 or even 5 books a weekend. Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, who is my favorite Detective EVER, were such a part of my earlier youth, their thirst for solving a mystery, their quirky and lovable personalities and amazingly compelling storylines.
I remember reading about these people from the 20s, 30s and feeling that even though there’s been over 50 years since then, the social commentary and problems have not changed that much. I remember realizing that human nature is human nature and it doesn’t matter if you are a 30s Hollywood starlet or a old biddy in a small town, if you’re from the 20s or from the 21st century.
Agatha Christie helped me realize all that and because of that and because if it wasn’t for her books I am sure my reading obsession wouldn’t be the same, I thank her for being there and for being the amazing writing she was.
*This Post is part of a week-long Author Appreciation Week series created by “Sea” Author, Heidi R. Kling.

**As of Today, Feb 24th, This Blog is an Award Free Zone!**
I am sorry! I LOVE the awards you give me and I wish I didn't have to do this, but my blogging schedule in general has not made possible for me to follow the requirements for the awards I receive.
Because of that, I feel that this is for the best.

The Man in the Brown Suit is my fave Christie book. I read it when I was about 8/9 years old and I just loved it...I was also addicted to Perry Mason novels.
Happy Reading

How awesome to see how much she's influenced your reading!!
I've only read Murder on the Orient Express, but I really loved it and have made it a goal of mine to read 12 Agatha Christie books this year. I'm currently audio-ing the Moving Finger, and well, it's super awesome.
