Cold
Light is the second book in the After Trilogy and it starts almost a year after
the end of book one (Fallen).
After
Emma and her daughter Mandy are reunited with their father Haywood and her
smaller daughter Beth in the save heaven of Edmonton Canada another great tragedy
strikes them; Beth is kidnapped by a rogue gang of half mad misfits and
criminals.
So Emma begins a journey in the snow, alone, with only company a wild cat and the ghost of Arthur.
During
the time of the family reunion Emma still stays heartbroken over Arthur; his
presence is visible by almost anyone and is affecting her personal life
more and more.
By this
point I was already angry with Emma about her choices, she choose her husband
but she seems unable to leave Arthur behind; she chooses to go after her
daughter alone more to escape the family embrace rather than to really help her
kid and lastly she choose to ignore her friends and allies from Europe with the
silly and immature notion of keeping them safe when they have already risked
everything to be of her aid. I wonder what excuse she will find for abandoning them
the third one.
Anyway,
I found extremely interesting the way the Mists have evolved and I’m really
looking forward to learn the way their existence is going to end. I didn't like the reappearance of an old enemy but I loved
Kangee and Laurette, and I wonder if for the last book we will be transferred back
to Europe so we can visit the rest of Emma’s “children”.
Overall
it was a good story, with lots of new characters and aspects of our favourite
MC’s that we haven’t yet glimpsed; this book ends with a mild cliff-hanger also
and I’m really anticipating book 3!!!
P.S This book has an awesome cover, don't you think?
