What an amazing book!....
This book was my first of the genre and I must admit I really loved it!
It's something between a historical romance (with the beautiful clothes and the decorum of the era) but with a modern twist like the use of strange inventions! Perfect combination for me.
Kalindi MacNeil survived the violent attack of the city of Liverpool, but she didn't survive unharmed! She lost a leg and her peace of mind, so in order to regroup and heal emotionaly she goes away to the deserted island of Eilean Comhachag.
Captain Fletcher Adams (a mechanically modified man) thinks that he is a weapon of mass destruction, after ordering his crue of soldiers to abandon his airship Fletcher lands in a deserted island! Can you guess? Yes, it's the Eilean Comhachag!!!!
Together Fletcher and Kali forced in a strange cohabitation heal and discover their identity all over again!
Although we are in a rather deserted rural environment with only two people to interact with one another the reader is not bored, on the contrary we are rewarded with colourful descriptions of Kali and Fletcher's lives and the difficult journey that led them to the island.
Skies of Gold is the fifth book in the Ether Chronicles series but it's a stand alone so go ahead and grab it!
