The Gypsy Thief is set in modern day Rhode Island and is the story of Laura Calder and her love for two boys: Andrew Easton, a descendant of King George the First, and Miguel Dos Santos, a mysterious gypsy who has royal ties of his own. More than 300 years previously, a dying Portuguese princess named Gabriela cast a gypsy curse on King George the First who issued a royal decree to counteract that curse.
In the spring of 2012, the time has come for the decree to be fulfilled: Miguel Dos Santos must die by the hand of Tristan Easton, the eldest son of the Duke of Easton. But when a tragic accident befalls Tristan, it is up to his younger brother Andrew to carry out the decree, a situation complicated by the fact that Miguel once saved Andrew's life.
Andrew's father, the Duke of Easton, aware of Miguel's act of bravery, decides to let him live, but not without cost. He forces Laura into an impossible situation in order to save Miguel and her family. She must make a life-changing, heart-breaking decision, even as she tries to understand the messages from the mysterious disk she wears as a talisman around her neck, a talisman she must protect from the duke, as it is now her only tie to Miguel. Ultimately, The Gypsy Thief is a story of family honor and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love, a story to be continued in its sequel, The Dark Prince, and concluded in The Shadow King.

WINNER ANNOUNCED! Signed "The Gypsy Thief" Giveaway + Interview w/ Kellie Bellamy Tayer + "The Dark Prince" Cover Reveal!
Let's give a warm welcome to Kellie Bellamy Tayer =)
Larissa's Bookish Life: When did you first start writing?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: I've been writing since I was a child but it wasn't until about 10 years ago that I really buckled down and tried my hand at writing a full length novel.
Larissa's Bookish Life: Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: As a youngster I was obsessed with a book series called "Trixie Belden" mysteries. She was a teenage sleuth like Nancy Drew who solved mysteries in and around her hometown in the Hudson River Valley. I even changed my name to Trixie in the sixth grade. I'm also obsessed with the "Twilight" books and movies. And my favorite author is Simone Elkeles. She writes amazing Young Adult romantic fiction.
Larissa's Bookish Life: Can you tell us a bit about The Gypsy Thief?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: "The Gypsy Thief" is the first book in "The Talisman Trilogy" and tells the story of Laura Calder, a high school senior in Rhode Island, who first falls for a boy named Andrew Easton who happens to be a member of Britain's royal family. She soon meets a Portuguese boy named Miguel Dos Santos who has a mysterious connection to Andrew. Though she has feelings for Andrew, there is an almost magnetic pull toward Miguel and it's because of the mysterious golden disk she finds on the ground outside of her school, though she doesn't know at first that the disk is connecting her to Miguel.
Over the course of the book, she slowly learns why these two boys are suddenly living in her little town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and she discovers the centuries old gypsy curse and royal vendetta that links them. By the end of the book, she is forced by the evil Duke of Easton to sacrifice her freedom in order to save Miguel's life as well her family's livelihoods and her brother's safety.
Larissa's Bookish Life: What about The Dark Prince?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: "The Dark Prince," Book Two in "The Talisman Trilogy," picks up where "The Gypsy Thief" leaves off. Laura is now living in England and blackmailed into marriage with Andrew, who is completely unaware that his father forced Laura into the marriage. He believes Laura has married him because she's in love with him. Laura develops a strong friendship with Andrew's brother, Tristan, who was seriously injured in "The Gypsy Thief." Over the course of the book Miguel learns of Laura's situation and he and his family set a plan in motion to free her from the evil duke. As the story unfolds, Andrew's behavior begins to change in a negative way as his marriage to Laura becomes strained. Laura has a health situation to deal with that becomes a major plot point leading into Book Three, "The Shadow King."

Larissa's Bookish Life: What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: When the characters take over and tell the story themselves and all I have to do is try to keep up and type fast!
Larissa's Bookish Life: What is your least favorite part?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: When I write myself into a corner and have to figure a way out of it!
Larissa's Bookish Life: The Talisman Trilogy in your own words?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: It's a love story in which a girl and two boys become linked together for all eternity by a mysterious golden disk. Though Laura falls for Andrew (the prince) first, ultimately she gives her heart to Miguel (the gypsy). Over the course of three books, she sacrifices her freedom to protect the ones she loves and ultimately, after much heartache and danger, she triumphs over adversity and health crises to attain a status in the world that very humans ever achieve.
Larissa's Bookish Life: What is coming up next for you?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: Book Two in "The Talisman Trilogy," "The Dark Prince" will be released in May. Then Book Three, "The Shadow King," will be out in August.
Larissa's Bookish Life: What are you working on right now?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: My new trilogy is called "The Crescent Saga." I have completed Book One: "Crescent Summer." I still have to write "Crescent Moon" and "Crescent Lake."
Larissa's Bookish Life: Do you have any advice or tips to those like me that want to become a published Author someday?
Kellie Bellamy Tayer: Perseverance is key. You'll want to give up and throw in the towel on any given day, but you can't stop. And if the rejections get you down, consider indie publishing. We're lucky to live in a time when self-publishing isn't looked down upon like it used to be. Even established/agented authors also self-publish.
Larissa's Bookish Life: Thanks so much for answering my questions Kellie =)
