Buy The Book - Promise (Soul Savers #1) by Kirstie Cook
Reading the blurb for this I wasn't really that sure what to expect and I had noticed that it had been put in my YA bookshelves on Goodreads and whilst this didn't put me off I was looking at the book in a more teen way to start with. I shouldn't have!
It's more for an adult audience and it will still intrigue the YA readers but don't be put off by this book, you will be surprised. Cook has managed to create a story with a stunningly descriptive relationship. Alexis, the female lead is incredibly likeable. You will probably want to meet her or have her amongst your friends. The male lead, Tristan, I fell for - he's very swoonsome. The two of them make a good couple and unlike what you might expect it takes a while for their relationship to develop. It feels real and I hate it when things get rushed so this was another plus point for the book and writer.
I really liked this first book and I wish I hadn't let my doubts about it being YA (I don't mind reading YA but I have read a lot of this genre recently) and I can't wait to get onto Book Two. A good promising start to another series to read :-)
I like your phrase "swoonsome." Is this part of Cook's YA series or a standalone? I'm glad you enjoyed a YA story. It took me a long time to come around to YA and now I'm so glad I did.
