After living on the streets of New York for over a decade, Logan admits her perceptions might be a little skewed. But twisted or not, there's a satisfying irony in watching a well dressed vampire stand in the middle of a ghetto alley, windblown trash scraping circles near his feet. What she finds even more intriguing, is waiting for him to decide if he's going to kill her.From Goodreads
Kerestyan hasn't made up his mind. As the Lord of New York, he can't let a drug addict, whose memories are packed with knowledge of vampires, run free in his city. It's not the first time he's been in this situation with a human, it's just the first time he's come face to face with one who doesn't seem to care. And that's what makes the decision so difficult.
What horrors could you witness before you went numb? How long would it take before you felt that way? What could make you care again?
Logan's answers are simple: the worst humanity has to offer, almost thirty, and something she never expected.

Here we go, another vampire story… but this is different from the norm. The heroine is not your typical heroine, she is a homeless thief who is addicted to drugs. She’s far from perfect and from the beginning you might not immediately warm to her or want to trade places. As the book continues she becomes more and more intriguing even though she seems so uncaring and cold in parts. The hero, the vampire is much more easy to like, you know except for the fact that he’s a vampire! He’s intriguing with the way he controls his strength and frequently you’ll forget he’s not human as he blends in so well. This isn’t due to bad writing but his character.
The characters are far from your typical vampire story and that’s for one thing what makes this book so good. It’s not all fluffy and lovely, it’s real. The two main characters are fascinating and the secondary characters bring a lot to the story too, especially some humour.
One of the great quotes from the book is;
“Character is not measured by moments of success; it is measured by the grace in which you move through adversity”
I really love that quote. I love it so much it’s bookmarked in my kindle, written in my quote book (Yes I am that sad!) and I keep thinking over that quote about how true it is. Beautiful.
The other fantastic part of this book is that this is only #1 and there are another two in the series, they have been quickly added to my ‘must read’ list. I know I’m super late in getting round to reading this series but it was definitely worth the wait.

Oh my God, I have to read this. I'm going to put this on my GR list now. Excellent review. I like a character who is not always likeable...more real.
Hope you like it!
Agree about a non likeable character, real characters are much more REAL :-)
