Determined to take control of her dreams, she uses them to find Shane Anderson, a charming and troubled musician whose online videos have been holding her in thrall. She finds him in the Dreamtime, sweating out heroin detox in a run-down rehab center.
Chloe sets out to find Shane in the waking world and discovers her dreams have been taking her into the past. Horrified, Chloe realizes Shane doesn't survive his addictions. In order to save him, Chloe must master her Australian mother's legacy — the secret of walking the Dreaming through time. But what price will Chloe pay for this Dreamwalk and will she save Shane only to lose him forever?

From seeing Shane online Chloe starts dreaming about him, being able to touch him and Shane is so overcome by his own drug fuelled problems that it's unclear what if any of this will make sense. The characters and friendships throughout are told beautifully and I really liked the journal style writing as I like reading a story using different viewpoints. Obviously books like this you can get quite emotionally involved and there were parts where I wished I could have told Chloe to stop or thinking more about what she was doing. This isn't my story and so switching off your feelings can become difficult.
The story is heavy going and at times disturbing, some of the drug scenes towards the end are very descriptive. Through the book I thought it was switching constantly between being a paranormal romance story and something for YA readers. It would appeal more to YA readers but I found this story really took hold of me. I'm really not keen on the front cover and it isn't going to win people round to read it based on the cover - admit it, we all have read at least one book based on a front cover right?
The most sad thing is I would never have read this had it been sent for us to review, I hold my head in shame.
Thanks for reading, please comment below x x x
I totally agree, I am intrigued by the synopsis, but the cover would not win me over. I hopped over to amazon and cannot find it o_O perhaps it will come across my path again sometime. Thanks for sharing today.
I hope it will be back available soon. I've contacted the author but have had no reply yet x
Good review. It sounds interesting, but I have to agree--the cover doesn't do much for me either.
