Legends of Marithia: Book 1 - Prophecies Awakening by Peter Koevari
It has been a while since a fantasy story has gripped me in the way that this one did. This story of a young girl who witnesses her parents death and then becomes a very powerful sorceress. The story also twines the good Vs evil battle that we have seen countless times before but this is different; dragons, elves, vampires it's all here.
The book is short for a fantasy story that skips between past and present, it also manages to keep a lot of detail despite it's short length. The characters are engaging and there are many twists and turns along the way too. With this being the first book of this series it's clear that the author does have big things ahead for where the story is going to be going. This excites me a lot as I wasn't too sure whether this would be a genre I could enjoy after tagging it in the Lord of the Rings box it was going to be hard to match it.
Taking that aside and forgetting about previous fantasy stories this is a very well rounded start and whilst it is short it covers enough to keep you turning page after page. The book will grab you from the very first chapter and since I have finished it people have told me how they finished this in a week! Mine was just over a week I think but still for a book I wasn't sure I would like, he got me hooked!
Hi Larissa! :)
Thank you for posting up a review and I am glad that you enjoyed it. In actual fact, I spent the last 6 months writing an extended and uncut edition of Legends of Marithia 1 that I think would definitely interest you. The sequel has also been released for some time now.
I wrote a blog about this process, why I rewrote my first book, etc here: http://peterkoevari.com/blog/new-legends-of-marithia-book-1-edition-and-my-experience-with-iuniverse/
I would love to supply you with a copy of Legends 1 Uncut and Extended, as well as Legends 2. Please email me at peterkoevari@hotmail.com to discuss further.
Kind Regards,
Peter Koevari
