Summer! Now with More Heat!
By Michele Bardsley
Well, once again it’s summer in Texas (and it happens every year … go figure). Well, I guess it’s summertime all over the United States, but I can’t really speak to the kinds of summers that people not in Texas are having. I assume, however, that Alaska still has a glacier or two that calorifacient (um, a big ol’ fancy word that means “really damned
hot”) residents can roll around on naked.
That’s what I’d do.
You’re welcome for that visual.
What were we talking about?
Oh, right. It’s freaking hot. Now, sometimes when people talk about June or July or even August, they probably don’t refer to any of those months as “the time when the bowels of hell opened up and exuded its foul sulfuric breath upon the land.” Maybe we just say that in Texas (and parts of Oklahoma).
Well, I suppose I can do more during the summer than complain about the heat. So long as I stay in the air conditioning along with a big, cold drink (ice, ice, baby) then I don’t even think about the heat. Much. You know what makes the summer goes faster?
Books. And you know which books are awesome summer reads? Mine. Okay, that may sound vain, but I’m hot, people. It makes me cranky. And also, vain. But let’s forget all that and talk about my books.
For instance, let’s draw attention to my Broken Heart books. (Hot summer reads! Wait. Too much? Yeah. Too much.) The eighth novel in the series, MUST LOVE LYCANS, comes out in September. Okay, that isn’t exactly summer, except in Texas where it’s always freaking summer. Except maybe a couple days in December. Maybe.
Anyway. The book isn’t actually set during the summer time. But who cares, right? It’s got a sexy werewolf, a psychotherapist empath, goddesses, vampires, Broken Heart action, and a big ol’ castle in Germany.
So, you know, a hot read. Hah.

I have a friend or two that live in TExas (Houston area).. But I am looking forward to next month when I can go down to South Carolina to stay with my younger brother and hang out at the beach.
There is a used book store there that I bought a lot of goodies. I don't dare bring my kindle 3 there because I'm so fearful about it.
Hee...the way you feel about the weather in summer is exactly the way I feel. I live in northern California in the valley (Sacramento area), and it rarely goes below 90 in the really hot months of July and August (some June and September in there too). Usually it's at a scorching 100+, but luckily my house has air conditioning or I would be so cranky as well. Plus I have a swimming pool and it's not that oppressive, sweltering, moisturific heat (just the really dry kind), so I take it.
Normally this time of year, the weather here in Wisconsin is hot & humid, but we have had so much rain it doesn't really feel like summer. Oh well, a girl still finds time to read. Stay cool
I live in Australia and we're currently in the middle of our winter. It's cold and rainy and windy, and what I wouldn't give for some of your heat over there in the States!
Thanks for the guest post =)
In france for now it's not so hot. I think it will change soon, since yesterday the sun has come bach.
We somehow missed Spring in Tennessee, so are now struggling through the oppressive heat of our summers.
Alaska sounds like a great reprieve!
Great guest post! SOO impatiently waiting for the next book!
I went to basic training in San Antonio. From May to August. Try full on BDUs + combat boots n wool socks + marching outside all day long. It was hell. Loved every minute now that I think back LOL
Great interview. Im so glad summers here and we have warmth. I hate the cold. And all of my flowers are blooming. They smell and look so pretty. Thank you so much for the giveaway.
LOL Oh as you know Michele I lived in Houston for 15 yrs LOL. Must say the temps here in Kongsberg, Norway are pretty good. Went up to 60F today :) Ok not much for a summer. Then again the high summer temps here are about 77F. Im going to visit my family in Houston in Aug. Im sooooo going to melt LOL.
By the way Im still mad at Amazon for not putting the 1st book in the series on kindle!!! I keep sending in requests!!
Love you can't wait to read the next book :)
It gets hot here in California, but it's the wild fires that bother me. Last year we missed the bullet, I don't think we will this year. Fingers crossed.
Remind me to invite you to visit in the next few weeks, Michele! I've been in Texas in June and July, and yeah, you guys get the heat. But nowhere I've been in these great United States gets the SUN like we do here in Arizona. I guess it's the atmosphere or the dryness of the air or something, but you literally spend June through late October (yeah you heard me, OCTOBER! And that's in a good year!) at the mercy of the murdered souls of every ant you ever fried with a magnifying glass when you were a kid. And when the humidity sets in ... oh, just shoot me now, 'cause it's not far off.
Anyway! Whining concluded. I have been lucky enough to read an ARC of MLL, and let me tell ya fellow blog readers, Michele does NOT lie. The royal lycan brothers are hawt hawt HAWT ... and if any of them deserves some lovin', it's Damian. But, as for any other resident of Broken Heart, it's not gonna come easy, or with any shortage of hilarity. Go forth and pre-order!
A ticket to Alaska sounds great about now. It's 87 right now, but it's been in the high 90's every day, with very little rain to cool us off here in Orlando. Florida has it's charms, but the summer can be pretty brutal, not only hot, but really humid. I worship the person who invented air conditioning, I have no idea how people in the past survived without it.
I only wish that we had some of the heat you are having Michele! To day the sun kinda came out, but all we have had is cool, rainy, yucky weather for what can only be described as "EVER"!!! Love your books, read all of them, was a Supreme Minion and now I'm not sure what I am, but I still follow you like the Minionship is still happening.
Please keep writing, or I will have to come there and well, just come there!!!!
xoxo
Lynda
I have a friend who lives in TX and all she's done this summer is talk about the heat and lack of rain...lol...I love the Broken Heart books and am really looking forward to Must Love Lycans!
Hi Michele!
We love the characters in Broken Heart and wouldn't miss reading your books! I'm looking forward to "Must Love Lycans."
BTW, it's hot in central Florida too... We went from an unusually cold winter directly to a hot summer. What happened to spring this year?
Thanks for the giveaway!
lindalou(at)cfl(dot)rr(dot)com
Just got back from the pool to cool off. It is HOT out there (Arkansas). I love the Broken Heart series and I have MLL on my wishlist.
I live in MAINE where we had blizzards every Wednesday for five weeks last winter. When I whine about summer heat in my yard, I try to think how cold I will be in six months.

I usually don't look forward to the heat of summer but I'm missing it this year. It's rained so much and we've had too many unseasonably cool days! I guess you never miss something until it's not there! We're supposed to have 4 distinct seasons in Ohio, it seems to me we used to. Now they always seem to blend into each other!
Summer is a great break from school and all, but the mosquitoes! Ugh, I hate them so much. The best part about summer is the extra time you can get for writing, reading, and anything else! I'm more of a spring person, but summer still has its advantages. (:
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE GIVEAWAY!

i am big fan of paranormal books, thanks for giveaway books
Oh Michele, how I feel your pain. We are dying down here in San Antonio. I got in my car a week ago and the temp gauge said 109. Seriously. How are we expected to live in this kind of heat with nary a raindrop in sight? Ok, it did rain ONCE last week for the first time in well over a month. It's going to be a long, brutal summer...the only way to survive is for you and Dakota to come down and drink cocktails with me by my pool :)
I sympathize with you about the heat-here in the heart of St. Louis, we get so confused. One day it is forty degrees, then the next it is ninety five, then we get massive tornados running over everything. Great post, and I have to say I love Broken Heart.
This week it's going to go from a 102 to 75 in the middle of the week then back up to the 90's at the end of the week Crasy Weather here in Northern Ca.

When the weather gets hot here I try to stay inside as much as I can. Our weathers been pretty weird this year one week it's hot next it's cool but now I think we're into the hot all of the time now.

Hi Michele!
First I wanted to say thanks for the awesome contest! I am up to date on your works and I am looking forward to your next!
Personally, I have always dreaded summer time, as I really HATE being HOT. My favorite time of year is Fall, the weather temp is perfect and I LLLOOOVVE the fall colors. Summer is the pits and winter isn't any better!
Hugs,
Cindy Bailey
Summer here in Puerto Rico is unbearable. Actually, pretty all year long here is (nah, just Spring and Summer)! It's so hot and I do not like it at all. The only good thing should be to go to the beach. But staying at home with this heat brings madness. I can't wait for Fall to come so I can at least see nice evenings. :)
Yes, I know all about the heat. But we southern ladies know how to stay cool in it..lol
Michele, I look forward to reading your books and thank you for the generous prize you are offering. Good luck with all your books: past, present and future.

I live in what's called a banana belt on the Oregon coast. Today is 63 and breezy. So I can't complain ٩(-̮̃•̃)۶ I am an Avid Michelle Bardsley fan.

Hi!
I love summer, especially if I can make a trip to the beach and get a nice tan!
Thanks for the giveaway.

Thank you for the giveaway :)

P.S. I couldn't find a GFC button but did the networked blogged and had already liked you on FB :)
Hi Michele,
Your series sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the lively guest blog interview & the contest/giveaway (which I entered).

The heat here last week was horrendous. The humidity was even worse. I visited my son and daughter-i-law in Texas when they lived there and honestly, I don't know how they endured it.I just love Spring.I definitely will be reading Must Love Lycans.

yeah I can relate to the bowels of hell being open in the summer I live in Bakersfield ca last week it was 109 degrees at midnight but it rained off and on all the way into June this year which is weird. hoping for some cooler weather sometime before september
OH Yea I remember the heat in Texas, I lived there when I was young about 9 to 11 years old and wow, I know we couldn't do anything outside during the hottest part of the day.
Hot werewolf + Germany = perfection to me. ;) LOL
I only read a couple of books by Ms. Bardsley, but I'd love to be able to buy more with that GC. :P
thanks for the giveaway!

Sounds like a pretty HOT read, and the perfect thing for a cold day such as this. :-)
It's very cold where I am now!
But Brazil can be excruciatingly hot, too. The temperature can get over 40Cº, so we pretty much fry on the outside and slowly cook from the inside. hehe
cris_mv AT hotmail DOT com
Today is the hottest day of the year (Germany)!!! Unfortunately there is such a thing like "Too Hot for Comfort" :/
sk_86(at)gmx(dot)de
Thanks for making this open internationally!
Today I enjoyed perfect summer day with my friend♥ Just one bad thing happened: I burned the whole body :( But i still love summer and heat :D
Rathouska.jana@gmail.com
I love the summer because there's extra free time for me. School is out and I love to just relax. I love lounging on the beach and reading good books and sipping cold, fruity drinks.
I know how you feel, because I live in Southern MS. I was driving by the bank a couple of days ago, and the temp. said 108. That is just too hot!
I am not a big fan of summer. I hate the heat, I don't like wearing shorts or tank tops. But I do like going to the beach or lake and reading a good book in the breeze! Can't go wrong with a good book and a nice sunny, yet cool day :)
jaidahsmommy(at)comcast(dot)net
I love your blog, and I hate this summer heat so far 102...
I agree with you about heat not bothering you as long as you stay in the house with a nice cool drink. I fee the same way and Kentucky does not get as hot as Texas, although it does get up to 90's and occasionally low 100's. But then when winter gets here, it snows and temps drop down below 0. Talk about variety, gotta find somewhere that stays 70-80 year round, lol.
I have not read any of these books yet but I know I will, I love paranormal romances, especially those with hot guys and humor.

I sure love summer reads! Nothing better than taking my kids to the pool and then having them crash while I read! thanks! wilsondev(at)gmail(dot)com
Here in northern Idaho, summer has pretty much just started. It's been pretty consistently rainy until this week.
I'm SOOOO glad I don't live in the South. There's no way I could stand the heat.
Thanks for the great guest post and giveaway!
amandarwest at gmaildotcom
I don't do heat. Seriously. As much as I like when everything is in bloom and that it stays light longer, I dislike those sweltering hot summer days.
danaan at gmx dot at
It's already too hot here! It is supposed to be 100+(f) here! :P Ugh. My poor malamute is going to melt!
This is weird, a bunch of your posts showed up first now larissa :( I missed a lot for some reason.
But ok heat! I can't stand it, ok I love it, but I have notice that 26c is where I go from yay to noooo! And I die at 30 c
In spite of the unbearabe hot and the mosquitos and flies, I LOVE summer :) Its beautiful and it can be really romantic :)
Thanks for the giveaway,

It's not the HEAT, it's the HUMIDITY!! at least in So FL. Not to mention the always present threat of Hurricanes. The summers can be too hot to handle, but then again I'm only a 30 mile ride to SoBe one way and 30 minutes to the Keys in the other direction. The best way to beat the heat is with the latest release of one of your fav authors, and make time to find some new fav authors on this site.
We're having real freaky weather this year.3 days of down right hot hot hot and humid then 1 really cold..and the cycle continues. But I'm not gonna complain, its better than snow
The weather this year is really driving me crazy. And I really hate humidity.
However, I do love Broken Heart. Awesome series. Cant wait to read more.
Those are some fancy buttons my darlin'! Love 'em
The weather? It is HOT HOT HOT with a lot of lightening.
XOXOX
Yesterday it was raining and 58 degrees here on the NorCal coast. Today, it's cloudy and 60, but they tell us there will be a heat wave over the weekend (that means it may actually get into the 70's). I don't really complain though I do miss the warm evenings back east.
I personally hate the cold so yeah I'm a summer person. I'm in Texas so once the heat hits you could fry an egg outside. I like it this way course I hate sweating like a pig but hey nothing is perfect.
I live in England so it's usually cold alrhtough recently we had two days of hot weather so everyone was having bbq!
I am a typical complainer: when it´s hot summer I want winter, when it´s freezing winter I want summer. But I kind of like both in it´s own way :)
Thanks for the giveaway!
I love stopping at WaWa for slurpees all summer long. It so refreshing to cool off with and is a yummy treat.
Thanks for the giveaway. Its going to be another hot summer here. Tore923@aol.com
Haha love this post!:) Michele seems such a cool person! Umm, bad wording, but you get the idea.:)
Anyway, I love summer. It's my favorite season! I live in Romania (south east Europe) and it was supposed to be very hot and humid here now.... And it isn't. This time last year I was melting on the balcony. Now I stay wrapped up in a blanket on the balcony. Really, we have the weirdest weather! We had a very cold winter, than we skipped spring and got some royally hot summer-like days and now it's cold again. Now when it would make sense to be hot. I guess spring finally decided to make an appearance! Point is, I'd love to be in Texas right now! Enjoy the vacation!
Oh, thanks for the giveaway!:)
Don't get me started about heat- I HATE it! But I also hate snow. Once it stopped getting me out of school it ceased being fun. I just need to find a place that is 68 degrees and a little overcast every day. Is that asking too much?
Very stranger weather pattern this summer. We go from 90 degreees to 65 and thunder showers, so it's hard to keep up. My favorite temp is about 75, not too hot, and I can stay cool just by opening up the windows.
caity_mack at yahoo dot com
Our summer has been great so far ... our temperatures have been around 80 degrees. We have just enough of a breeze to keep things comfortable. I love this time of year! :-)

Thanks for the guest post! I live in Ohio and thankfully our weather hasn't been as bad as usual this year, so Yay! I haven't read your books yet but I definitely am going to now! Thanks for the great giveaway :)

It's been over 100 here this last week. I love BBQing in the summer time!!
It is so hot! I am spending as much of my time in the pool as I can! I can't wait to go to the lake next week!
I'm not that big a fan of summer, it's so darn hot! And I remember it used to be hell at school because there wasn't any air con in most of the classrooms. Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for the awesome giveaway! I live in Nebraska where it can literally drop or jump 20 degrees daily... but now that it's fully into summer it's getting very humid! Bleh!
I love this series, I'm so glad I don't have long to wait for the next installment. You could double my salary and I wouldn't move to TX or AZ. Dry heat/ humidity, it's all bad.
Thank you so much for the great giveaway!
I can't believe it's July already!
Must Love Lycans sounds great! Your post was fun. It only just got warm in the Pacific NW.
robindpdx (at) yahoo (dot) com
Ok this may sound awful, but I like summer. It's the only time of year where I'm not constantly sniffling and freezing my butt off. It's also the only time of year where my utility bills are reasonably priced. I'll trade you, you can have freezing upstate NY and I'll take warm Texas.
Rolling around on ice in Alaska sounds like heaven right now! Away from 110+ weather!! Michele is hilarious :) :)

I live in Panama, so here we're ALWAYS at summer :S plenty of Coca-Cola and water is the solution ;)

Awesome interview! yaaay! thanks for the awesome giveaway :)
The heat is unbearable at my place because it has no air conditioning! ugh!
Great giveaway! The summer heat here wouldn't be too bad except with the addition of humidity it is HORRIBLE! Can anyone else say 110-120 heat index?
Since I live at tropical country, I never experience summer. All year is hot and I welcome the heat. Lucky to me I live at city near the mountain, so the weather not too hot.
I love Michele Bardsley's "Brokenheart" series. Looking forward to read her new books!

Great post. I can tell you it's really hot here in Jersey...plus add a lot of humidity so it's double trouble.
I love the summer! Can't get enough of it... I'm enjoying all the free time I have as of now till the end of summer
I lived in Texas for 4 years when I was younger. I don't miss it.
Thanks for the giveaway.
I'm pregnant right now, so I'm speding summer in my bedroom, with air conditioning and a lot of books!
Thanks for the giveaway and for opening it internationally!

We've been pretty lucky so far. It's just been in the last couple of weeks that it is hot enough for the air conditioner
Every year there are new highs in Spain. I remember last year where we were at around 50ºC and you could fry an egg on the top of a car.
Great post! At the moment here is raining, so it's really cold today :( Thanks for the giveaway! If I win, I'll definitely buy books ;)
I live in south Alabama so our summer has been quite hot here. Keeping cool and getting in some extra reading are on my main agenda right now lol. Enjoy your books and looking forward to being able to read through them all!

For me the best thing about summer is a working air conditioner - summer is just to hot for me :) Now give me an overcast day with a light drizzle and will will roll on the floor and be happy :) Thank you for sharing today and for the lovely giveaway opportunity.
The best part of summer is the great weather, the barbeques, the waterparks, the wonderful fruit and the time being out doors with friends and family. Thank you for the giveaway
This summer is scorchingly hot, hard to survive in the city, can't wait to finally leave for vacation: we are going to the Adriatic sea, the Croatian sea shore is beautiful, and can't wait to finally spend the days reading and chilling in the sun :-D
Thank you for the great giveaway!

It is really hot where I live to but what is even worse is the humidity. It is just so suffocatingly miserable.
