Alfonso Serrano is a hunted man. For months he's managed to elude the Darkbloods, vengeful foes who won't rest until he's dead. But he still craves one dangerous temptation: Lily DeGraff, the sexy Guardian agent he'll risk anything to protect.
Lily is a wanted woman. Her talent for tracking Sweet—a rare blood type that's addictive to vampires—makes her a prime target for enemy capture. Her only hope is the stealthy vampire operative who stole into her bed…then left her in despair. Danger aside, Lily won't let Alfonso near her heart again—until an irresistible hunger threatens to draw them back together… and into an assassin's snare.

*Minor Spoilers for the previous books in the series.
After Bonded by Blood entertained me just the right amount to have me looking forward to next book in the series, I am very glad to say that Embraced by Blood was definitely a great step up in the series.
It is understandable that Sweetbloods being a new series, there is a lot of world building and character growing to be had and I have enjoyed that quite a lot so far, specially in this latest book.
It is utterly clear that Laurie has grown as a writer and it also helps that both leading characters were very present in Bonded by Blood and that their story was not only a story of redemption but one that had been building up for years and years and has finally found its comeuppance.
One of the most awesome things about this series is the villain turn hero plot. I mean, it is not a completely original storyline but it’s definitely one that done well, can hit it out of the park and I think Laurie London has definitely done that.
What has absolutely contributed to that in my opinion is the character building that Laurie has done with both Affonso and Lily as well a well-written, action packed plot on the side that left nothing to be desired.
All in all, seeing Lily and Affonso finally get their Happily Ever After, even though I have to admit that the their story is quite cliched and the resolution was a bit too perfect, was quite amazing.
Laurie London has created quite an incredible world in with the Sweetblood series, one that I’ll be looking forward to reading more and also one I completely recommend to any Paranormal Romance fan out there!
