Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart.
Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.
Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.
Well, sort of.
Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.
It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.
As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

I have been ambivalent about ghost stories for a while. It doesn’t really bother me, but I don’t love it and I definitely don’t go looking for them. However, when it’s a ghost story by one of my favorite author’s ever, I have to give it a shot and I am so absolutely glad I did!
Aura is your run-of-the-mill teenager in the world after the Shift. You see, something happened 16 years ago that anyone born from then on can see and communicate with ghosts and Aura was born right in the brink of it.
For a girl that can see ghosts, Aura’s life was pretty normal. She has school, friends and a boyfriend she loves and with whom she was planning to lose her virginity to, that is until he dies unexpectedly on his birthday and Aura’s become even weirder than she could possibly imagine.
Jeri Smith-Ready has done such an incredible job in telling this story and creating this world that you can’t help but feel entranced and transported into Aura’s life and her dilemma's, the best of which is the appearance of Zach a boy that will definitely make Aura’s heart beat faster but that she’ll not give herself to, specially since she still has a boyfriend, he is a ghost, but who cares.
Shade is not a full-on action-packed novel but it is fast paced and thrilling nonetheless! If you enjoy the Paranormal YA genre this is definitely a must read novel! I promise you will not be disappointed!
