I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings.
But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy businessman Owen Grayson’s front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesn’t shy away from my past—or my present. And right now I have a bull’s-eye on my forehead. Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there’s a fifty-fifty chance one of us won’t survive this battle. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too. The only problem is, Bria has no idea I’m her long-lost sibling . . . or that I’m the murderer she’s been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead. . .

Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, Book 4) |
*Contains SPOILERS for the previous books in the series.
After all the trials and tribulations Gin has gone through in Web of Lies and Venom, my favorite “retired” assassin is getting closer and closer to the final showdown against the woman that killed her family. However, before she can finally go after Mab Monroe, Gin needs to deal with a new assassin in town, getting reacquainted with her long lost sister and dealing with the new man in her life.
I have to say that Tangled Threads is my favorite book in the series! We get a lot of awesome action and some great moments with Owen, Donovan Caine who? Finally a man worthy of our girl Gin that doesn’t have a stick up his a**. I am Team Owen all the way!
The only complaint I have is the same I did for the last couple books. I feel that there is a lot of repetition when it comes to explaining the back story and world building, throughout the book. Of course the back story and world building is important, but I just felt that in some instances less is more and that some of it totally took away from the rhythm of the story and that’s the only reason Tangled Threads is not getting a perfect score.
The Elemental Assassin Series is such a great addition to the Urban fantasy Genre. Jennifer Estep does an incredible job in giving us a unconventional heroine that you can’t help but love. Tangled Threads is definitely my favorite book in the series and I can’t wait for Spider’s Revenge!

xoxo,
No matter how many repeats there are in the story line I still come back for more and cannot wait till this book hits my mailbox Larissa! I too feel that not only has the author created a masterpiece series in the UF genre but she has given us an accessible "person" behind the books as well, which makes this fan of her writing even more impatient for her newsletters and blog updates as well as the next book that releases!
Nice succinct review that touched all the previous highlights without being too spoilery, and yay Owen all the way!
Great review! I barely made it through book one but I've heard such good things about the others and I do so love the urban fantasy genre, I think I'll have to give this series another try.
Whoa Larissa, we had pretty much the exact same thoughts on this one! The repetition was the only thing that bothered me about this one as well, but overall I just adore this series. TEAM OWEN!
I luvs Owen! *mmm.... drools*
Donovan can take that stick and... oops... sorry... you have YA people here... so I'll be nice. ;)
I'm reading this one now. LOVE it so far!
Perhaps I should give this series another go..though I just didn't connect to her
