The gates of hell have opened, and one woman will stand in the crossfire as the Dark Breed—vampyre, demons, shape shifters—and mankind fight their last battle for survival.
Kyana is half Vampyre, half Lychen . . . and the last of her kind. Determined, dangerous, and damned, she has no love for the mortals who have imprisoned and misused her. But when the Order of Ancients entrusts her with a mission—to find the key that will send the Dark Breed back into Hell for eternity—Kyana has no choice but to accept.
She is furious to learn her assignment comes with an escort . . . Ryker, a demigod and fierce warrior who long ago found a way under her skin and stayed there. In a shaky alliance, they discover an ancient cult with dangerous motive and a god who seeks to destroy all others. And as Kyana begins to feel the heat that threatens to bind her to Ryker, she knows she has to resist. For it could only mean the undoing of them both.

Ascension: A Dark Breed Novel |
*NO Spoilers
The world as we know it has come to an end. The gates of hell have been opened and the streets are overflowing with unimaginably horrific creatures. Nothing stands in the way of these monsters but the Dark Breed like Kyana, that is a half-Vampyre, half-werewolf hybrid and works for the goddess of the hunt, Artemis.
Her new job is to try and find the key that closes the gates of hell and the culprit behind its opening, but as difficult as this job seems, nothing will be as hard as working with Ryker, the demigod who refused her advances a decade before.
Ascension is a delicious mix of Urban Fantasy with Mythology is a semi-pos-apocalyptic world where humans are going into extinction and the bare few that are left are in the hands of mythological and fantastical creatures.
Kyana is a very interesting character, with a very complex history that we learn more and more about throughout the book. She and Ryker make a great pair and I loved him as the hero in this story, even though Kyana’s prickly disposition kept pushing him away.
Ascension is the beginning of a very promising and fascinating series that I cannot wait to read more about. The ending left me gasping and clamoring for more. I did guess where the story was going to an extent, but it did not take away of my enjoyment if it.
I totally recommend Ascension to every and any Urban Fantasy lover out there. Sable Grace did a great job in mixing the to-be-expected UF elements with mythology, which just made the Dark Breeds’ world that much more interesting.I can’t wait for the next installment!

Great review hon, I just posted mine yesterday as well, gave it 5 out of 5. I just loved Kyana. Like I said, one of my favorite leads ever. She is what Anita Blake use to be; kill first, ask questions later LOL! Great review hon. Thank you :)
