Hey Everyone!!! Sunday is here and it’s time for another Top 5! YAY!
This week’s results:
Books for an Urban Fantasy 1st Timer! - 12 (50%)
UF or PNR Pet Peeves! - 12 (50%)
Ugh! A tie? Really? LOL
Ok, so I’ll do the UF Newbie one and put the Pet Peeves theme in the hat again! =D
The theme for today is:
Books for an Urban Fantasy 1st Timer!
But first, a little bit about this feature and the rules to join in…
Every Sunday I will post a TOP 5 list on the blog. It can be about anything and every week I'll have a new theme {You can vote on next week’s theme on my left sidebar!} and I will ad the Mr.Linky bellow the post so you can do a list with the theme and add you link to it.
Rules:
- Write a post listing your TOP 5 choices within the theme I chose (or was chosen on a poll) for the week.
- Mention this Blog on the post and link back to it.
- Fell free to use the Feature's image (there is a smaller size version of it bellow)
- After you've finished your post, add you link (of the post, not your blog's main page) to the Mr.Linky at the end of that week's post.
- If you don’t have a blog to post, just leave your list in the comments =)
This week’s theme is Books for an Urban Fantasy 1st Timer!
Hmmm this was a fun one to think about =)
I went with books that the heroines are totally relatable, but kick-ass and awesome at the same time. Books that I believe would be a good first foray into the Urban Fantasy genre:
*in no particular order
Halfway to The Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Great Heroine, awesome Hero, a lot of action and kick-ass romance!
Kitty and The Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn
One of my fave heroines. This is a great werewolf story and not too intricate for a first timer =)
The Scent of Shadows by Vicki Pettersson
Different kind of UF. No Vamps or Weres, but it had a Comic Book element that will definitely be appealing!
The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein
Great straight on Vampire tale. Very likable and relatable heroine and awesome world building!
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
With True Blood’s popularity, this is a great choice for an UF Newbie! =)
Attention! – Please HELP!
If you have any theme ideas for the next Top 5 Sundays Posts, please leave them in the comments!
Your input would be much appreciated!
Now I can’t wait to see who is in YOUR List of Books for an Urban Fantasy 1st Timer!
Write you post and leave your link so i can check it out!
Hope you guys have fun with it!

xoxo,
Okaiexz...I would also say Night Nuntress series which I totally recommended to a newbie and they loved and the other books I recommeded that she loved was Chicagoland Vampires, Alex Craft, Shadow World! Can you believe it I haven't read Sookie Stackhouse yet...hahaha.
I have too! and because of the NH that person got totally addicted to the genre!
ooooh you so gotta read Sookie! =D
Yay, another theme that I totally love!:D
And I love your choices - actually, I just 'forced' the Night Huntress series to a friend and now she's totally obsessed with it - with Bones actually, and she keeps asking me about other books. So yeah, totally a good 1st Timer!
And I also like Vicki Petterson's series - her world and characters are so unique and captivating! Sookie is definitely a must! I still have to check out the other 2 series, and now that you mentioned them I'll move them higher up on my TBR list. Thanks!
xoxo
This was a fun one! I actually used part of my "list" as books I bought for my friend when she was getting into UF reading!
@Deea
hahahah the same happened to me with the Night Hunbtress series!
I agree, Vicki Pettersson books are so awesome!
@Jessica
Thats so cool! =D
I thought it was a fun Top 5. It also made me realize that there are a ton more books that I need to read. Haha.
I love this top 5, it was really fun to think about what books I would recommend to someone.
I already have Halfway to the Grave and plan to get The Sookie series but the others I haven't heard of but they will go on my list.
Great list! I believe I have a couple of new series' to add to my TBR.
Thanks for hosting :D
Megan Marie
Great choices :) I think I would put Mercy there, and then, oh tough choice
Love this meme! Would participate but I am an Urban Fantasy newbie!! :)
xo,
Lah @ LazyGirl Reads
I would add Stacia Kane's series too. I keep seeing jeanienne frost books on your list I so must get these books x
Since I'm not that into UF, this post is perfect for me to give me an idea of where to start. The Becoming sounds dark and delicious.
Um... I'll add..
Elemental Assassin series
Kelly Gay's Darkness series
Rachel Vincent's Shifter series
Jane Yellowrock series
The Fever series by KMM
Oh, I could go on.. :)
Good ideas!! I wasn't sure of the what exactly makes it UF, but I hope I did okay on mine. :) Thanks for the Top 5!!
Man everyone has some great choices. I think it is in agreement that the Night Huntress series is essential to anyone's UF list. Oh and I just saw that I spelled my site name wrong. It is Offbeat Vagabond LOL! Not my day today. Some of these I have not heard of, but I have added to my TBR pile. Great Top 5s guys!
@Alyssa

@Missie

@Melissa
