Hey Everyone!
One of My favorite author discoveries of 2010, Alice Clayton, here today! YAY!
Check out the interview and awesome giveaway bellow!
- When did you first start writing?
Believe it or not, I only started writing a few years ago. And in fact, The Unidentified Redhead is the first thing I have ever written...aside from grocery lists.
- Have you always been interested in Romance?
I have always been a romantic, I will say that much. But more of a practical romantic, no heaving bosoms, no pirate shirt rippling in the night air. Romance to me is when a new married couple tries to figure out which tuna fish recipe should be theirs...his mom's or her mom's??
- Why writing Contemporary Romance?
I just had this idea, and couldn't get it out of my head. Scenes and ideas just kept tumbling out, and then poof...it's a novel!
- Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
I have always been a tremendous book lover, so I have unknowingly been influenced all my life. I listen to music constantly when I am writing, and in fact certain scenes were suggested by songs I was listening to.
- The sex scenes in your books are amazingly hot. Where do you get your inspiration?
The inspiration came from the mood of the songs I was listening to initially, and then just thinking about everything that was involved. And that first scene, where Jack and Grace are in her bedroom and he throws her across the room, once I started listening to that Prodigy song (insert Firestarter here!) the pace was set and it wrote itself!
- Do you find it hard to write them?
The sex scenes were the ones that I was most nervous to write, but then oddly, were the easiest ones for me to create! Who knew? I think when I sat down to write my first sex scene, I just thought...what would I like to read? And then...well...there it was.
Favorites:
- Favorite Movie? All time? Star Wars. Or Clue.
- Favorite TV Show? Anyone that has read this series can answer this one...Golden Girls!
- Favorite Book? I can't pick just one, but I can tell you that the one I reread consistently, every year, is The Stand by Stephen King.
- Favorite Author? I sooo can't answer that.
- Favorite Romance Author? Here is the kicker...I haven't read enough romance to know! I am working on a 52 Week Book Challenge in 2011, a book a week for a year. I have tons of romance/contemp romance/rom-com on my list, and I can't wait to really submerge myself in this world.
- Favorite Genre that is NOT your own? I know this is so boring, but I literally don't have a favorite genre. Right now on my nightstand is the new Tom Clancy book Dead or Alive, Women Food and God by Geneen Roth, and I just ordered the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. My nightstand is just as confused as I am as to what my favorite genre is!
- Favorite one of your Books? As I only have 2, I would have to say the 2nd in The Redhead Series, The Redhead Revealed, simply because I enjoy Grace more in this book.
- Who is your favorite of your own characters?
Holly. Hands down Holly. She is modeled on several of my best girl friends, as well as my own sister, and she cracks me up. The scenes between her and Grace are always fun to write.
- Which was the hardest to write?
Grace. There are things she does that make you want to smack her in the face, and that was intriguing to me. To take someone that you want to cheer for, and then sit back and watch her self implode, was difficult.
- What would you be if not a writer?
A personal chef. I love to cook.
- If you Could be a Character from any book, Who would you be?
Holly, because I have seen her house and it's spectacular.
Quickies!
- Coffee or Tea? Coffee.
- Up or Down? It has always been my experience that things pointing up are always a good thing.
- Virtual or Real? Real.
- Day or Night? Night.
- Sooner or Later? I would like to say sooner, but I am totally later.
- Reading or Writing? I am, and will always be, a reader first and a writer second.
- What is your favorite part of the writing process? Writing dialogue.
- What is your least favorite part? Deadlines. Remember the Sooner vs Later? Killer...
- The Redhead series in your own words? Comedic Erotica.
- How many book do you have planned for the series? Right now, 4.
- What is coming up next for you?
I am working on Book 3 in The Redhead Series, outlining some new writing projects, and debuting on Feb 1st is my new love, Not Your Mother's Podcast! It's a new podcast with me and 2 of my very best friends about everything that women in their 20's, 30's and beyond want to giggle about. Check out notyourmotherspodcast.com for the details!!
- Do you have any advice or tip to those that want to become a published Author someday?
Don't let anyone tell you what your voice should sound like.
- Anything you would like to say to your fans out there?
*taps mike* Is this thing on? Hello to you! My one fan:)

Wohoo SW, yup those movies rock
I love Golden Girls too!! I just purchased a few weeks ago the entire boxed set (all 7 seasons!) and have been watching them every night.
I will definitely have to pick up your book if they will remind me of the show!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!! Love it!
Four books?!? Seriously! That information brightens my day!
I cannot wait for book #3! Bring it on! Jack Hamilton = WOO-HOO!!
Sorry. I get a little over-excited when these books are mentioned :)
Great interview! Thanks for hosting this :)
Lacey in the Sky with Books
Comedic erotica, how can I say no to that! LOL! Awesome interview. I can tell just by it that her books will be fun to read!
Alice Clayton was my first. My first contemporary romance I liked. My first book from Omnific Publishing which has transformed my reading TBR list. LOVED The Redhead Series with Jack & Gracie with all her craziness and all his hotness. Great interview!!
A great interview with a lovely lady. It's always interesting to hear how books come together.
Great interview. I also love clue :)
I am curious about the book inside. Have you review one of them Larissa?
Thanks for the chance ;)
Alice's favorites have her totally stuck in the 80's, like me! hahaha

What a fun interview! Did you know that on The Golden Girls, originally Betty White was supposed to play Blanche Devereux's character? The casting agent ended up switching her and Rue McLanahan around, thank goodness! Best of luck to Alice on her writing.
Love the author's advice. Good advice for life!
This book looks great! It would be so cool to have a signed copy! I hope you pick me! Follower on twitter, Facebook and Blog +26 total
I'm sorry, but Clue totally beats Stars Wars.
Larissa!
Wonderful interview. I love Alice Clayton's work and it is very rewarding to get to know the genius behind these addicting novels. The Redhead series just takes what we love about our very best girlfriends and embraces it. The sex scenes are so sizzling, but it is even more romantic because you care about Grace so much.
I love the quickie questions too. Thank you both for taking the time to let us be part of the fun.
Great interview! Love Alice Clayton! And Grace. And, well, especially Jack! ;)
Alice is a comedic/romantic genius (comedic erotica is perfect! lol)
She's brill with dialogue, and I always enjoy her stories. *fans self*
@Alice-Not only do I need to read your books, but now also The Stand!lol This is seriously like the 100th in just a month I've heard how good it is:D
@Larissa -thanks for sharing your author discovery, this is first time I hear of this series but it sounds great; especially after hearing so much excitement in the comments:)
Oh My...I really want to read these series! Great Interview btw...
Prodigy Firestarter? I have to read that sex scene at once!
On My Must Read List: The Redhead Series for sure...!
Excellent interview! Also a wonderful giveaway...
it sounds to great! love it!
What a really interesting interview. Good to know that not all authors have been writing their entire life. x
Thanks for the great giveaway. Tore923@aol.com
Great interview! These books sound really interesting! Thanks for the giveaway!
Ha! One fan! As if.
I love this series, as many others do, and I am so excited to hear that there will be two more books! *squee*
Grace is a lovable character that you want to smack, only because I think she has struggles with her insecurities the way most women would. You don't intend to be self-destructive, but sometimes it can't be helped.
Fantastic interview. I loved learning more about this author, and I can't wait to read more of her work.
Hmmm you've got me curious about her books. Thanks for the contest so we newbies can check them out.
I haven't read any of your books, yet , but based on how you described your series: Comedic Erotica. You got my attention ;)
Thanks for the awesome interview and giveaway! I've not read these yet, but they look like good reads. Will definitely check them out now.

yay! look very amazing those books!!
I hope to win'em, but as i always repeat to me : hope is a bitch. LOl
GREAT interview, Larissa, and what an amazing interviewee you have in Alice Clayton. Her writing is hilarious and heartfelt and hotter than hell. So pleased to hear about two more books! WOOOOOT!
I'd love to win a signed copy of her books. Even better would be for her to sign my bewbs. Don't judge.
Awesome interview! Great blog and great author. <3
Great Interview!
I've been wanting to read this series for awhile. It's got two plot tropes that I love - a couple with one famous member, and the younger man/older woman thing. Now that you've described it as "comedic erotica", I've really got to move it up the wishlist.

Lovely interview!
Alice is a gem!
MUAH!
I know Larissa's raved about the books, but somewhere along the way I missed the part about the really hot sex scenes. The covers make the books look like they'd be too sweet for me. I'll also have to move them up my TBR list.
Comedic erotica sounds fun. Thx for introducing this new-to-me author.
Adding to my wish list!
Redhead's been on my TBR like forever. Really do need to get started with them.
hi Larissa! that was a great interview. i didn't realize that there was such a thing as comedic erotica. now i do. thanks for introducing Alice to us. c",)
Thanks so much for this interview. I like finding new authors to read.
This is great! As a redhead and avid book reader, this is a perfect series for me! Thanks for the giveaway! :)
Found your blog by accident and am excited to read your reviews. These books will be on my to-read list... xoxo querida!
She had me at "Golden Girls"...obviously a kindred spirit!
Most excellent. Ms. Clayton loves Star Wars and Golden Girls. I love her already!!! ^__^
Great interview!
Loved the interview - I have read a lot of Alice's work and her writing is terrific - both the funny parts and the sexy parts. I love it. I was thrilled actually to read that we share a favorite book - "The Stand" has always been not only my favorite Stephen King book, but one of my all time favorites. I especially liked when his publisher came out with the "anniversary" edition that included all the "bits and pieces" that were edited out of the original published book. That was a treat! Looking forward to reading many more of Alice's great stories!!
Oh My Goodness so good to read about Alice...since I have been reading her for so long...I appreciate the interview so much!!! I also like my friend above *WAVES* to DebbieCDC was thrilled to read that one of my absolute all time fave books is one of Alices' THE STAND!!! Amazing...Alice I just love your characters...but I love Holly too...*sigh*...I love the laughing times and the sexy times...just keep it up baby!!! xoxoxoxox
I've been wanting to read these stories for awhile now! The interview was great!
Love Alice Clayton's writing style, and comedic erotica sums it up nicely. I haven't read this series though...it's on my to read list for sure.
I have read her online stuff and can't wait to read this series now I know about it
I've been wanting to read this series so I am so glad for a chance to win the books.
I happened upon this today from a Mr. Linky post...The series looks good and I can't wait to be able to read it...I absolutely love the Golden Girls - Rose is a hoot!!! And Clue, that was my fav when I was younger...
Facebook, Twitter x2, Email sub, GFC, Goodreads = 20 (I think! LOL)
These books look so fun. I will definitely have to give them a try. Golden Girls were one of my all time fav's. All of them were just so funny and living together with such different personalities made it all the better.
Yay! I've wanted to read tiese books <3
Would LOVE to read these...they sound awsome! Thanks for the chance...

<3,
TL
What an interesting interview I have not heard of this books , but now I want to read them :)
Yay! What a beautiful interview!
I have not read these books, although I've read several reviews and I must say I am very interested. Not all authors manage sex scenes are really hot, but without being vulgar. I look forward to reading these books, totally!
Cheers!
YAY! I've heard a lot about these books! Thanks for the giveaway! :)
