A self-deprecating witch with the unique ability to reanimate the dead. A dangerously handsome warlock torn between being her boss and her would-be lover. A six hundred year old English vampire with his own agenda; one that includes an appetite for witches. The Underworld in a state of chaos. Let the games begin.
Life isn’t bad for psychic Jolie Wilkins. True, she doesn’t have a love life to speak of, but she has a cute house in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a cat and a quirky best friend.
Enter Rand Balfour, a sinfully attractive warlock who insists she’s a witch and who just might turn her life upside down. Rand hires her to help him solve a mystery regarding the death of his client who also happens to be a ghost. Jolie not only uncovers the cause of the ghost’s demise but, in the process, she brings him back to life!
Word of Jolie’s incredible ability to bring back the dead spreads like wildfire, putting her at the top of the Underworld’s most wanted list. Consequently, she finds herself at the center of a custody battle between a villainous witch, a dangerous but oh-so-sexy vampire, and her warlock boss, Rand.

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, a Paranormal Romance (Jolie Wilkins Series, Book #1) |
Jolie Wilkins is a witch, But she is doesn’t quite believe so, I mean, she has visions of the future and psychic powers, that doesn’t make her a witch, does it? Well, she will have to put that theory to the test when she sees a ghost in her store and not long after a gorgeous man shows up, changing her life forever.
Rand is a Warlock and he believes that Jolie is the woman he needs to get his latest job done. However, she is much more then he believed and his life will never be the same, it doesn’t matter how hard he tries it.
I really enjoyed this novel, even though I had a few problems with it. Over all, Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble is a fun read full of all our favorite paranormal races and a very entertaining story.
Jolie is a nice leading lady, but her self-deprecating comments when she is obviously a beautiful woman, got on my nerves sometimes. I also didn’t like that every hot guy she met got her all hot an bothered, it was a bit too much for me.
Rand annoyed me with his “let’s keep our relationship work related” spiel. It was obvious he wanted Jolie and that whole BS he kept saying made me want to beat him until he came to his senses.
All in all, Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble is a fun read that i recommend to Paranormal Romance lovers out there. I had some problems with the main characters, but they were compelling and kept me interested throughout the story. I am looking forward to the next installment coming 2011, it has a lot of potential!

xoxo,
I liked this one ok, but I had the same issues that you did. It was a cute & compelling read though - I finished it in one sitting.
@mama
Thanks hon! I finished it in one sitting too! I am curious about the next one =D
I haven't read this one but it sounds interesting. Great review.
@Parajunkee
Thanks hon!! =DD
I'd be interested in seeing what you think of this one =P
ya the self-deprecating comments really got on my nerves to. I hate when female characters do that!

Paranormal Haven
me too!!! it feels like false modesty and its annoying =/
I read her other novel, To Kill A Warlock and had similar reservations with it. The female lead in that one got all hot and bothered by 3 different guys in that one as well, but nothing ever came of it. It was a fun read though, just as you said, and I might pick up the next one to see if she makes up her mind:)
I totally got frustrated with Jolie and Rand, too, but then again, that was part of the fun. :D
@Jenny
ooooh I have that one on my TBR. thanks for the heads up LOL
@Missie
