Hi, Larissa! Thanks so much for having me on your blog today.
- When did you first start writing?
That would be back in 2007, not too long after I decided to stay home with my two-year-old. This year, I officially retired from nursing after 24yrs. ( I was really young when I started. lol) I never thought I had the creative talent to be an author. Science had always been in the forefront of my mind. But I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay home with my son and thus explore my creative side, because I truly feel I've found my passion.
- Have you always been interested in Romance?
Oh yes. I can say that I've always been interested in romance—for as long as I can remember.
- What about in the Paranormal?
I discovered paranormal romance back in 2005. After stumbling upon Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series, in particular, Spell of the Highlander, I was hooked!
- Why writing M/M Paranormal Romance?
I have Jet Mykles to thank for my love of M/M romance. I dearly love her Heaven Sent series. *sigh* So it was a natural fit for me to blend both of the genres I love: M/M fiction and Paranormal romance.
- Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
Karen Marie Moning, JR Ward, Jet Mykles, Lora Leigh… and so many more, it's hard to name them all.
- What is your favorite subject in the Paranormal Romance Realm?
Alpha males who bite. LOL *wink*
- Do you find it hard to write the sex scenes in your books?
I wouldn't say that I find them difficult to write. Writing hot and sexy has always been something that was fun for me. What's hard about them is that they take a lot of energy; I'm usually mentally exhausted by the end of an intense scene. LOL
Favorites:
- Favorite Paranormal themed Movie?
Hmm…tough choice here. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Underworld series.
- Favorite Paranormal themed TV Show?
Ooh, that one is easy. True Blood!
- Favorite Paranormal themed Book?
The Black Dagger Brotherhood. ( can't just pick one of those. lol)
- Favorite Author?
Karen Marie Moning. So talented.
- Favorite Paranormal Romance Author?
Lora Leigh for erotic paranormal romance.
- Favorite Genre that is NOT your own?
Naima Simone from Ellora's Cave pens fantastic interracial contemporaries. She has a new release coming out soon called, To Love and Protect, and a short story with Breathless Press in Dec. called, Claiming Christmas. Hot stuff.
- Favorite one of your Books?
Oh man… That's a hard one. But I've heard a lot of authors say that they love with the one they've just finished the most. And I agree, because I love Evin and Mason's story. It's my favorite right now.
- Who is your favorite of your own characters?
I guess it would be Kenric. He's my first, and you know how the first always lingers with you.
- Which was the hardest to write?
Desire to Die For. I was growing as a writer during the creation of that story. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into that one, but I was SO proud of the final product.
- What would you be if not a writer?
Probably still working as a nurse. Or working on an advanced degree in a science field of some kind. That is if I'd never discovered my love for the publishing industry and continued my work as an editor.
- If you Could be a Paranormal Being, Who would you be?
A shape shifter like Rosa in Bloodlines. How cool would that be to be able to shift into a wolf!
Quickies!
- Coffee or Tea? Coffee
- Up or Down? Up
- Virtual or Real? Real
- Right or Left? Left
- Day or Night? Night
- Here or There? There
- Sooner or Later? Sooner
- Light or Dark? Dark
- Fast or Slow? Slow
- Vampires or Werewolves? Both. Hehe
- Angels or Demons? Angels
- Reading or Writing? Reading
- What is your favorite part of the writing process?
The brainstorming! Love that part when you can let your muse run wild. It sort of like an adrenaline rush for me.
- What is your least favorite part?
Finding the quiet time I need to sit and write. That can be the hardest part some times.
- Can you tell us a little bit about the books you have out right now?
I have the first two books in my Warriors of the Enclave series out right now at Loose id. They're the first installment in a series about five vampire warriors who defend humanity against the DEADs and their struggle to find their soul mates. If hot alpha male vampires with tortured souls do it for you…then the Warriors of the Enclave are exactly what you've been looking for.
- What is coming up next for you?
Let's see… Bloodlines from Breathless Press on November 26, 2010
All She Wants 4 Christmas from BP on December 10, 2010
Make Me: A KinKaid Wolf Pack Story from BP as well on February 11, 2011
- What are you working on right now?
That would be Eve of Desire, book three of the Warriors of the Enclave series.
- Do you have any advice or tip to those like me that want to become a published Author someday?
I know you've heard this advice over and over, but it's so true: don't give up. It takes a thick skin in this business, because we all pour our hearts and souls into our work. But if you really want it, you can't give up. Keep learning. Absorb everything you can from workshops and the writing of your mentors. The more polished your work is, the better your chance will be to stand out in the crowd.
- Anything you would like to say to your fans out there?
* Big Hugs* Thank you all so much for taking the time to read one of my stories. Please feel free to contact me anytime; I love hearing from you. It makes my day when I learn that someone has read one of my books and enjoyed it—that it gave them a few minutes of escape from their daily life. That's my goal. I want to give my readers a story that'll take them away on a journey and give them a few hours away from their own world.
- Thanks so much for being here!
It was my pleasure, Larissa! Thank you.

angeldream3(at)gmail(dot)com
I am not really into m/m books.
In fact I have only ever read one that was recommended to me by a gay friend.
It is just not something that holds my interest.
But I have nothing against them or the people who write or read them.
Best of luck with your book and hope it has great success.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Wow, your Desire/Warriors of the Enclave series looks really hot. I would love to read them (will have to wait till next year, as I have already spent yearly book budget last month. Being a book junkie and reading almost a book a day has some draw-backs, hehe). Good Luck with the new releases coming up!
vickykerr[at]sbcglobal.net
Hmm, I wonder if the author ever used her experience as a nurse to write a scene (like to explain injuries after a fight, an illness, an emergency room visit, etc)?
b(dot)cardone(at)hotmail(dot)com
I enjoyed the interview. I like finding new authors to read.
I cant wait to check out your books~
It's always nice to know more about how authors got their start (it gives me hope, lol)
Hi, Jessica-
You;re a new to me author, but all of your work seems to fall in the areas I love: alpha weres and vamps. I enjopy m/m as well as the usual f/m. Kind of surprised me, still not quite sure why, but hey, whatever.
@VickyCK -- Oh, I understand. I don't even want to calculate how much I spend every year. *cringe* lol Thanks! I appreciate it.
@BethanyC -- I sure have. lol Both in Desire to Die For and Bloodlines. Comes in handy. :)
CarolM -- Thanks! Good luck in the contest.
@Samantha35 -- *g* Hope you enjoy!
@Asenath -- Best wishes with your writing!
@Anne -- You know, it sort of caught me by surprise as well at how much I do enjoy the m/m genre. But I do love men, and in m/m you get two for one, so that must be a part of it. lol
Great interview! The "quickies" part of the interview is always my fave :)
I just bought "Bloodlines" and can't wait to read it! :-)
Ohh I think I'm going to have to go add you to my author list on amazon :)
Also wondering if there is a theme going on here but started to notice a lot of the authors I like are Red Heads ;)
Hi! I loved the interview. I must say that as a fellow writer I also find that some scenes take more energy from you than others. It's an odd feeling that I don't mind all the time. :)

I've never read m/m romance. Not where it went anywhere anyway. But I think it's something I'd like to try out and a paranormal is right up my alley. I'll have to give it a try!
And you sound like such a nice person, I get a great vibe which makes me want to give your books a try even more!
And thanks for the giveaway!
I love those covers!!!
Thank you for the nice and very informative interview Jessica! :-)
Could you please help me out, which books would you recommend to a M/M virgin? Which novels are great for initialisation and not to scare me off? Thank you! :-)

Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Congrats on getting to do something that you clearly love. I always admire people who manage to get a writing career going in spite of working full-time at something so demanding as nursing.

Hi!
Fantastic interview...interesting to hear your science side. I'm a chemist (not completely nerdy...but a nerd nonetheless) and as much as I love reading, I've never felt creative enough to write my own...Hmm...maybe I should rethink seeing another science type doing quite well!
:) Ren
Oh, I always forget to sign with my email info.

Great interview! I love Karen Marie Moning too--I am more than ready for the new book to finally come out!

Love all the covers :)
wonderful interview!
the books look like very funny as the writer... :)
This is a new author to me but her books sounds awesome!
Thanks for the interview :)
Neat! I love getting the behind-the-scenes info. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the chance!
Fascinating interview. Haven't read any of these yet, but I plan to check them out soon.
I can't imagine how difficult it would be as an author to find quiet time to write and just unwind. That must be hard. It's hard enough as a single mom and blogger/substitute teacher!
What a beautiful interview! I haven´t heard about this author, but I add to my wishlist now!
Very nice interview. Thank you for sharing.
I have noticed that a lot of women enjoy reading m/m books and like the idea of watching two men have sex.
Will this ever become as cliche as men and f/f?
By cliche I don't mean anything bad, just that the concept of men enjoying watching two women or having sex with two women is very common place, to the point of being expected.
Is it possible that women and m/m will get to that point or will it always be a case of, oh we don't talk about women enjoying sex/having fantasies, kind of mentality which is so common today. (at least it seems like it to me)
I hope that makes sense, it did in my mind not sure I explained properly.
natalie23(AT)hotmail(DOT)co(DOT)uk
@Sarah --Yay! Hope you enjoy. :)
@Emmad -- Woot! Thanks! Just trying to cover up all that gray. LOL
@Rhianna -- I don't think you'll be disappointed with m/m. But granted not everything is a perfect fit for everyone. But I do hope you like. :)
@Candace -- Aww, you're too kind. Thanks! Good Luck with the giveaway!
@MrsCullenized -- LOL Thanks! Love your Avatar!
@Stella -- Hmmm... I would have to say Jet Mykles' Heaven Sent series. They broke me into m/m. lol Have fun on your journey. :)
@Ebyss,@FairWhispers,@ Rosie Hong, @JenM -- thank you all for stopping by; I really appreciate your time.
@BK, @Andrea, @Alexa -- Thanks so much for the best wishes. Hope you get a chance to try m/m as a new genre.
@Lena -- That's the attitude! Keep learning, writing, submitting, and Your dream will surely become a reality.
@Wendy, @Renee, @Jessica -- Thanks so much for the lovely comments! Hey you never know Renee, there just might be a novel inside you just waiting to come forth. lol
Oh Gosh, I know, Jessica, Need Shadowfever now, please! LOL
@ Lisa, @Glory, @Sharli, @Carmen, @Dovile, @lingeorge -- So kind of you to stop by and thrilled you liked the sound of my books and their covers!
@ruthhill74 -- Oh yes, can be a real challenge sometimes to wind the brain down enough so that I can place myself into my character's head.
@The Itzel Library -- Thanks! You've made my day. I do hope you enjoy.
@Jeanette J -- You're welcome! and Good luck to you :)
@Natalie23 -- You know, Natalie, I do think the mindset is starting to shift in regards to women as sexual beings who enjoy reading about two men. In fact, in Rolling Stone's recent What's Hot for 2010 issue, they listed that in paperback it was M/M! How about that! :)
What kind of fun Christmas traditions can my boyfriend and I start now that we live together.
