As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, Larissa is off having an awesome time on her vacation, while the rest of us are stuck here in the real world. (Boo!) But she was kind enough to let me, along with a few other awesome gals, take over her blog until she returns!
For those of you who have no idea who I am, my name is Natalie, and I run a YA/UF/PNR book blog called Mindful Musings. You're welcome to drop in and visit me anytime!
Larissa pretty much gave us a green light to post whatever we wanted to, so I tried to come up with something fun and simple for you all!
Since I’m guest blogging on a book blog, it’s probably pointless to tell you that I love reading. One of my other great loves, though, is music. In my (somewhat limited) free time, I enjoy putting playlists together for my favorite books!
Books and music are very similar in a way—in that they both are forms of art used to express creativity, emotion, and ideas. Sometimes I find myself driving down the highway with the radio cranked up, and a song comes on that makes me go “Oh. That reminds me of THIS character or THAT book.”
One of my favorite recent reads is The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan. Coincidentally, one of my favorite songs fits two of this book's main characters perfectly (at least, in my opinion). I think the lyrics really describe the relationship between brothers Alan and Nick, especially as the story goes on and they learn more about their past.
The song is "Dig" by Incubus.
So my question for you guys is this:
Is there a song out there that you think goes just perfectly with one of your favorite books?
Natalie, this song is so perfect for the Demon's Lexicon. It really fits with Nick's need to keep Alan and him together despite everything Nick finds out about himself. Excellent post.
Hi Natalie! We've got a different cover here in Australia for that book, probably why I didn't recognise it at first glance LOL haven't picked it up yet cause I confess I'm not usually a YA reader.
