The first blog featured today is “Oh My Books!”:
I’ll let Gaby tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:
Oh My Books! is a blog where I post book reviews, book news, book giveaways...anything related to books! I've been reading since I was a kid, so yes, I'm a book addict/lover. Last year I started blogging about books (in Spanish) and I liked it so much that I decided to start a blog in English. This two months blogging at Oh My Books! have been awesome, and I have met a lot of cool people who also like to read. :) I wish I could spend all my day reading and blogging, but I'm also a veterinary student (which I love, really, except when I can't find time to read!).

The second blog featured today is “Among The Muses”:
I’ll let Tanya tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:
Thank you Larissa for inviting me to your home-away-from-home today. Although, I'm surprised to see all the scantly clothed men walking around. And, is that a tray of snacks and drinks that dark haired one is bringing us? You sure do know how to welcome a person!
Alright, so I suppose I should talk about the real reason I'm here, how I started blogging and the things I like, and don't like, about it.For me, my blog originally started off as a personal place for me to reflect on books I was reading and new releases and events that were popping up in the literary world. I continued doing this for about a month before my amazing friend Missie, at The Unread Reader, showed me the magical door to the Blogiverse, and I was swept away in awe! I felt like a kid in a candy store with all the new blogs and people offering up goodies and fantastic recommendations! Right from the beginning I was submersed in new information on new-to-me books and authors, and all the blogger perspectives and fun things they were sharing that they had found. Soon I found my blog taking on a different look and feel as I began to get more involved in blogging-- And it has been such a fun ride ever since! In away, I'm still in awe at all the new things I learn each and every day!
In actuality, I find there are many more enjoyable things about blogging, than the aspects that are not. Some of the things I adore most about blogging are:
The people I meet. I love, love, love meeting new people who share common interests of reading, genres, and the awesomeness of hot alphas! What? You know you do too!! Not to mention, look at how it connects you with people around the world! Some of the blogs that I frequent the most are not from the US. I love the idea that a common passion of books and ideas have brought me in contact with some of the most amazing people!!
The connection. I love the connection that blogging provides between authors, readers, and other bloggers! The interviews let us see the person behind the words and provides us with a more meaningful look at their work! You stop and think, 'Heh! They're a person, too, and I also share the same interests as ___, ___, and ___'. Blogging also provides an easier way to find authors and their past and upcoming releases. I've found myself on a couple of occasions going to a blog that I know would have a link to the author's web, or was having an interview so I could learn more about the author, as well as have a chance to get my hands on their book quicker if they were offering up a giveaway.
Opening New Doors. I appreciate, and value, how blogging lets you gain insight into books, authors, events, and news that a simple synopsis often doesn't give you, or the blurb on the inside cover about the author doesn't provide. From personal experience, there are many books, and authors, I would never have sought out if it weren't for blog hopping! I've read books that have tested my personal boundaries and have come away with a whole new view, appreciation, and even love of a new genre! And that's what reading is all about isn't it? Stretching yourself as reader? I can even see how this is starting to reflect in the way I blog, read, and connect with books now-a-days!!
Part of a Community. Blogging itself is a community -- and I think I've already hit on the different ways that it is. But, through blogging I've also branched into belonging to different book clubs (for example: Larissa's) and groups that also share a love of reading and the same genres and interests that I do.
There are really only two issues I have with blogging:
The time. There's simply not enough time in the day to read and blog hop as much as would like. I think everyone can relate to this! I get so frustrated when life gets hectic with work and school pulls me away.
The money. There is not enough funding in my bank to keep up with the amount of books I want in my hands, like.... yesterday! And all the insane amounts of recommendations does not help! But, the good thing about this, is it can often be rectified through giveaways and book swaps. In conclusion, I think it's obvious that my pros of blogging greatly outweigh the cons! I should be baking Missie brownies for introducing me to this fun little world of blogging! I absolutely love it!!
Thanks Larissa for having me here, and would you mind if I took one of your... helpers back with me? I'm just saying it looks like you have your hands full and I could help you out. *shifty eyes* That's all.
