“A crippling knee injury forced Elliot Mills to trade in his FBI badge for dusty chalkboards and bored college students. Now a history professor at Puget Sound university, the former agent has put his old life behind him-but it seems his old life isn't finished with him.
A young man has gone missing from campus-and as a favor to a family friend, Elliot agrees to do a little sniffing around. His investigations bring him face-to-face with his former lover, Tucker Lance, the special agent handling the case.
Things ended badly with Tucker, and neither man is ready to back down on the fight that drove them apart. But they have to figure out a way to move beyond their past and work together as more men go missing and Elliot becomes the target in a killer's obsessive game...”

I simply fell in love with Mr. Lanyon’s writing when i read his Adrien English Mystery series and when I saw this new release from him on NetGalley I just jumped at the chance to read it.
Elliot Mills is an ex-FBI who has turned back to his original job of History Professor after a shooting gone wrong left him with a bummed knee almost an year and a half ago.
He lives by himself, doesn’t really have a social life and hasn’t dated ever since his not so amicable break up with former colleague and FBI agent Tucker Lance over an year before.
Tucker and Elliot get thrown together when Elliot’s father asks him to look into the disappearance of a student of his university and since the kid’s father is high profile, the FBI is in charge of the case and Tucker is the agent on the job.
Fair game is a great character driven romantic thriller. The plot and whodunit mystery is definitely more prominent than the romance, but you can’t help but root for Elliot and Tucker to make it work and just admit that what they once had was much more than casual and that they can work together in the future.
I LOVE Tucker! He is a hard-ass federal agent, but he is also lovable and not afraid to say he is wrong and to fight for what he wants. His and Elliot’s relationship only works out because he is willing to put in the extra mile and let go of his pride.
Elliot is a great leading man and I think i like him more because he was flawed. He made me want to punch him whenever he was being stubborn, but I definitely understood his reticence and difficulty in letting go. He and Tucker make such a cute and lovable couple, you can’t help but swoon.
The mystery in Fair Game is pretty awesome and I found myself trying to guess who was the perpetrator and being wrong all the time, I ended up getting it right right before Elliot and I felt that it was perfect. It didn’t make me feel stupid and it also didn’t make me feel smarter than the main character.
All in all Fair Game is a fast-paced character driven romantic thriller featuring two very swoon worthy men and creepy mystery that will keep you on your toes. If you love a good whodunit and are into an awesome m/m romance that does not overshadow the over all story, this is the book for you.
