"Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge."

After hearing so much about this series and the cliffhangers it has, I am really happy that i bought both this and The Hunger Games at the same time. I read them back to back and now I’m just dying for the third and last installment of this amazing trilogy.
Catching Fire starts off a couple months after the events in The Hunger Games and only we learn what happened in this period through flashbacks. I found that was a great way to fill the void and keep the story moving forward faster.
Katniss won the games and now needs to deal with the consequences of her actions in the arena and keep up with the persona she created. The Capitol is not happy with her, they believe that her actions have made her the face of a new rebellion and they cannot let that happen.
Just like the last book, this one does not stop for a second. So much action and one surprise after the other that I could not put it down. I read this book in just a few hours and I just wanted to keep going.
After wining the games Katniss believes she is safe from the dreadful yearly drawing, however the capitol throws a curve ball at her. This year Hunger Games will be a sort of All-Star affair, where they draw the participants only from the ones that have survived the games before. Since Katniss is the only girl to ever win the games in District 12, she is going back to the arena.
That was such a twist that i could nor help but cry. This book is full of heart rending moments, action and much more surprises that will keep you on the edge of your sit. The cliff hanger at the end is a killer and August 24th can't come soon enough!

xoxo,
I loved the first book, but I must confess I think the second book feels a bit artificial. I think the writer could have handled some things differently and with a bit more imagination made things far more believable than they are now (in my honest opinion anyway, hope I do not offend those who love the book).
Love this trilogy. I wanted to turn back to page 1 of Catching Fire and start reading again as soon as I finished.
I absolutely love this series! I am so glad you finally read it! Ultimate cliff hanger ending. I loved it. I read it at B&N because I didn't have ANY money at the time.
I said "what?" really loud and people surrounding me glanced over. lol
