“I'm Trella. I'm a scrub. A nobody. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers. I've got one friend, do my job and try to avoid the Pop Cops. So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? Not like it's all that dangerous - the only neck I risk is my own. Until I accidently start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution. I should have just said no...”

Pre-Order This Book:
I just love weird dystopian worlds or futures, The Hunger Games opened my eyes to this wonderful genre and I just can’t get enough. I was really lucky in getting this new book by Maria V. Snyder on NetGalley.
Trella is a scrub and just like you are probably feeling right now, i had no idea what that was. in Trella’s world, being a scrub is being confined to the bottom two levels of the Inside. Working 10 hour shifts, living in fear and not being able to have a family of your own.
Our leading lady is petite, which allows her to do her job in cleaning vents and pipes, as well as giving her the freedom to explore the levels 3 and 4 in the Inside without being seen. Inside is like an underground building with 4 floorsm called levels. The Upper people are viewed as the unattainable and full of luxury while the Scrubs live in poverty, with nothing to call their own and no liberty.
All the scrubs’ hope lie within the myth of the Gateway that will take them Outside and free of the hard hands of the Pop Cops. Cog, Trella’s best and only friend is a believer and after introducing her to the newest “prophet”, sets her on a missions to recover disks that might prove the existence the Gateway.
Trella takes on that mission, but with the objective of disproving this “prophet” and proving that hope is useless. On her journey, Trella meets an upper names Riley and finds out that the people that controls the Inside, the Treva family, have been keeping the Scrubs and the uppers apart by spreading lies.
That’s when is all changes and it becomes a race against time, pain and fear to unveil hidden files, find out if there is really a Gateway and keep her new and old friends safe.
One of my favorite things about this novel was that it was told in the first person, I just love when a novel is written thus, it gives us a better connection to the protagonist in my opinion. I also enjoyed the world the author created and was pleasantly surprised by some twists and revelations throughout the book.
The only thing that bothered me was the quick and seemingly rushed conclusion to the plot. It felt that some things were wrapped up too easily and even abruptly. I loved the ending and the cliffhanger got me really looking forward to the sequel coming out in 2011, Outside In, but it did feel rushed and even though, after all that Trella and her friends went through, I was happy with the end, it felt to easy.
However, i did enjoy the book and I could NOT put it down for one second! If you enjoyed The Hunger games, you are probably going to enjoy this one as well! I totally recommend it! =)

This book is two for two. I'm adding it to my list. I do love a good Dystopian piece.
I agree with you Lala. Certainly a book written in first person has a particular charm about it. But I didn't understand the 'levels' you were talking about :(
