I feel so lucky to have been a part of the original Harry Potter craze. I feel lucky to have found out and fallen in love with the series right when book came out. I am lucky that my dad gave me the first 3 books as a xmas present (in Portuguese) and I read all of them in three days, with no sleep. I am lucky that my dad gave in and surprised me with an English copy of book 4 on the forth day and I didn’t sleep for another two days.
That was a life altering moment for me. As I have said before, I have always loved reading, but the HP series opened up a new world for me. A world full of magic where anything could happen. That was when my love for Fantasy started and I will always be thankful to J.K. for that.
I remember pre-ordering the following books even 6 months in advance. I remember reading them in the first day I got them and even reading it when my students were doing exams. I remember pouring through theories and articles on HP fan sites. I remember crying like a baby when Sirius died. I remember crying, but accepting the nee of it when Dumbledore died.
The HP series where the first series, ever, that I felt like re-reading. I read each book 3 or 4 times and my love for it is unconditional. I just know that even when Im 40, I’ll still be mooning over this series. I might like the movies, but it will never come close to my love for the books.
Thank you J.K. for creating such a magical and inspiring world, with characters that we can’t help but love. You changed me and my life and I will always remember that.

xoxo,
I agree wholeheartedly!
I've been loving your Author Appreciation posts!
I wasn't swept up in the Harry Potter craze. I read the series around the time the 3rd movie came out. I liked them, but I haven't re-read them and I was by no means 'obsessed'.
But I love the fact that this series sparked a love of reading in an entire generation. I think that's absolutely brilliant!
I have a confession to make:
Even though I love the series and even stood in line at my bookstore at night for book 5, I never liked Harry Potter! In fact I loathe him.
Severus Snape is my hero!
@Kelsey
YAY!

I agree with you about it being brilliant that this series sparked a whole generation into reading =)))
