Welcome to another New Blogs on the Block!
This feature was created by the great Carolyn from Book Chick City and passed it on to me recently! =)
This week I have the pleasure to welcome Chelley from Michelle & Leslie's Book Picks!
1. When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging on September 2009. I just graduated college that May and was job hunting with very little luck. I began my blog to keep my mind off the fact that none of the places that I interviewed at were calling.
2. Tell us a little about your blog?
At first I reviewed both books and beauty products, hence my url begins with "booksandmakeup." But reviewing beauty products wasn't as fun as reviewing books, so I dropped the whole makeup idea and just focused on books--romance novels in particular. Then, a few months ago I got my 13 year old sister Leslie to review YA books she'd read because I wasn't reading as much (I found a job!). The blog underwent another transformation to what it is today. Our blog reviews both romance novels (written by me) and YA fiction (written by Leslie). I also opened a Twitter account to go with the blog and Good Reads to keep track of books I've read and want to read.
3. Are there any features on your blog you would like to highlight?
My youngest sister Aubrey (she's 7) will also be joining in on the fun too and will be doing "reviews" of books she has read--creative spelling and all!
4. What's been the high point of blogging so far?
The highest point of blogging for me is knowing people are actually reading my reviews and other posts. It's great connecting with readers all over the world and sharing my opinions, getting book recommendations, reading other readers' different take on books I've read--something I don't get to do in real life because none of my friends are big readers like me.
5. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm 22 years old (turning 23 on February). I live in Hawaii. I recently graduated from college with a degree in elementary education. My favorite books to read are historical and paranormal romances but I pretty much read all romance sub-genres (except for erotica). I love to watch Fox's Glee and ABC Family's Greek on TV. My favorite food in the world is poke (pronounced "po-kei") which is a Hawaiian delicacy and made out of cubed raw fish marinated in soy sauce ("shoyu"), seaweed ("limu"), onion, chili pepper and others. Yum!
6. What's your favourite book of all time?
I'd have to say Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.
7. Who are your favourite authors?
Judith McNaught, Nora Roberts, Tami Hoag, Kat Martin, Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Jane Austen, Libba Bray, Kristin Cashore, Tana French, Nalini SIngh, Harper Lee, Tracy Grant, Juliet Marillier, Emily Giffin, Linda Howard, Phillip Pullman
8. How many books are on your tbr list right now?
About 30 right now but it's growing very, very rapidly.
9. Where do you see your blog in a year from now?
Right now, I'm still trying to get a hang of blogging but I have so many ideas. I hope to have sorted through them so that I have a consistent weekly post series, reviews, author interviews, giveaways and maybe host a challenge. I'm also hoping for steady stream of faithful readers too.

That's not gonna happen till a thousand years later! Ok, I'm not sure bout that either but that's not the point! The world's not gonna end! Full stop!
