Hey guys, How is everyone doing? I can't believe it is the middle of the week already. That is so awesome, specially this week. Now it is only a couple days until we get to enjoy the Smut Slut Fest. I just can't wait for it! It's going to be so amazing...
This week On My Wishlist, I will only be posting one book that I really crave at the moment. Why? You might ask me... Well, me and Sagi from
Sagi's Randomness had a little adventure at the mall today and I would like to share that story with you, along with some pics to illustrate it =)
On My Wishlist this week is "
First Drop of Crimson" by Jeaniene Frost. This book is a spin off of Frost's amazing Night Huntress series and I am dying to get my hands on it. I am pre-ordering it tomorrow from amazon and I'm actually ordering 2 c
opies. Do you guys know what that means??? No?? Come on, guess... It means that there will be one copy of First Drop of Crimson to giveaway here. Yep, that's right! I can't wait for that!
"The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.
He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together...
Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost."
Story time I guess lol.
I needed to stop by the mall where I got Baby Bones (My mini-laptop) today, so they could change the windows xp that is installed from Hebrew to English. I know some hevrew, but it is really annoying to have to guess most of the stuff.
So, we get there and the manager (the guy who sold it to me) wasn't there and they couldn't do it. Sagi and I decided to check out the bookstore. The thing is that, here in Israel, it's almost impossible to find Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Smut, Paranormal YA and so on. You can find the odd book around, but it usually is the third in a series or something like that. For that reason I gave up on finding my favorite books here, and also it is more expensive to buy it here than to buy it on amazon.
Well, I was really surprise to get to the "English" section of the Bookstore and find a bunch of
new books around and a bunch of UF, PNR and so on... Here is a pic of three I thought was really cool to see around:
By that point, I had already "sold" the idea of "Dark Visions" by L.J. Smith to Sagi and she was reading the blurb in the back of "Soulless" (which she also bought **evil grin**). Since she has never read smut before, I decided to try and hunt at least a nice PNR book for her and it was almost impossible. Picture this! Me walking around and checking every freaking shelf, like I was on a mission, Sagi behind me saying I wouldn't find any and then me just getting more and more obsessed in truing to find it LOL
Just then, I see a box of three of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, though they were
Books 2, 3 and 4 in that series. I freak out LOL call out to Sagi and show it to her hehe. Then, I turned to the saleswoman and asked if they had those books separately, she looks at the books, looks at me and says:
"No, we don't. *pause* You know what these books are, right?? You know what they have in it?"
me: "Yeah, Thanks for your help" I turn, start laughing and tell Sagi what she said. WTH does that saleswoman care if I read that? Seriously? Only in Israel, I'm telling you LOL.
We then move on to take a look at the other, smaller, bookstore at the mall. There, I find GOLD
hehe. I find the three first books in the Night Huntress
Series by Jeaniene Frost and almost start jumping up and down. Seriously! I was this close (thumb and forefinger almost touching) to doing my happy dance in the middle of the shop LOL. Here is the proof that they have the NH series in Israel:
Of course, I just have to convince Sagi to buy the book; and of course she does and says: "Going with you to a Bookstore is so dangerous" LOL. What can I say? She is right hehe *evil grin*
This is me and Chapter 32 LOL (They only had one copy of each Book in the series, so the Book next to Chap. 32 is not the same book):
To finish up, while we were walking around we saw something that made me think of Susi @ The Geeky Bookworm. I know she likes SpongeBob Squarepants and I do too. So, this is for you Susi:
Well, guys. That is it for now. I hope you enjoyed Sagi's and mine moments of madness. Well, with me it's more that I get moments of sanity, but I digress =)
Thanks for tuning in and I'll see you soon.
xoxo

Quote post: she looks at the books, looks at me and says:
"No, we don't. *pause* You know what these books are, right?? You know what they have in it?"
You've gotta be kidding me...she actually said that??!! Did you spontaneously grow horns?? Or had red flames flicker in your eyes? LOL I think for non US citizens seeing such books in local bookstores is more an exception then a rule. Loved your post Larissa!
yep, she actually said that LOL and after I responded she just turned with a disapproving face hahhahha
it was surreal hehe
I LOVE ur post :P of course :P We had fun today and i am soooo happy i went to the bookstore with u but i still find it very dangerous. lol
hugs :D
Love the post and I would probobly have gotten those horns. LOL
SUch a prude. But I always get giddy when I find a book I like in a German bookstore.
And I so love SPONGEBOB!
Thanks hon!
@Sagi
It was such a simple day, but it was really fun =))) thanks hon!!!
@Susi LOL such a prude, so true...
I love him too =)))))) Im glad you liked it!
Great post! FDOC is on my wishlist too =)
I'm wearing Spongebob fleece pants right now. LOL. LOVE those shoes ;]
I love that you took a pic of chapter 32 LOL
I've always been curious about how you go about buying smutty/urban fantasy books in Israel - isn't it a little bit taboo? Do you mostly rely on Amazon?
It's always a good sign when a bookshop has an 'Urban Fantasy' section and they don't just refer to it as 'SciFi' or 'Fantasy'. That's when you know you've hit the jackpot - and Jeaniene Frost is the JACKPOT of Urban Fantasy Smuttinesss!
I am *dying* for 'First Drop of Crimson', especially since Frost said her spin-off books will be more romance than fantasy (and I already consider the 'Night Huntress' books to be pretty darn romantic!). I'm actually even more excited for Menchere's book 'Eternal Kiss of Darkness', coming out July 27 2010. I think Mencheres is smoldering - all tall, dark and sexy with a tormented romantic past. *sigh*
Great post! I have the Jeaniene Frost series on my shelf but haven't started them yet... have to go and investigate ch. 32 :)
ohh i wish there were books in english in my bookstores...*sigh* Unless i want to find Harry Potter or Twilight it's not going to happen...very limited choice lol
I love Molly Harper's books, you just make me remember that i should pre-order book 3!
ohmegod i love Spongebob but seriously those are freaky lol
@Rex
SpongeBob pants LOL
@KindleVixen
I just felt I had to give a shout out to my fellow Bones lovers =))))
@Danielle
The English section in stores here in Israel is dismal and badly organized, to find anything UF or PNR is such a deadly task, I swear LOL
I didnt know JF had said that... awesome news =)))
@BCC
that chapter must be throughly investigated =)))
@pattepoilue
I pre-ordered Bk3 a while ago hehe
and those shoes are freaky LOL
