Let's give a warm welcome to Katie Reus =)
Thanks so much for having me here today, Larissa!
When did you first start writing?
About seven…maybe eight years ago. It’s all sort of a blur now =)
Have you always been interested in Romance?
Yes! I started sneaking my mom’s old Harlequins when I was about 12. I liked them well enough but I always felt like there was something missing. Then in college I discovered Linda Howard and realized it was the suspense aspect I was missing and I fell in love with romantic suspense. I like a bit of danger with my romance ;)
Why writing Paranormal Romance?
Well, all I’d ever known was RS, then about a year or so after I started writing I discovered Sherrilyn Kenyon and was like, holy insanity, what is this awesomeness? So my love of paranormal romance was born. That said, I’d only read about her dark hunters and while I loved
the mythology, I’ve always had a soft spot for wolves (I used to have a Siberian husky). I knew that if I was going to do pnr, shifters were the way to go for me (though I have written about vamps and fae and will be continuing to do so).
Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
I love the BDB books (discovered them right after Kenyon) and I really enjoy Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. I don’t know if they’ve necessarily inspired me, but damn those women can write. I just love getting lost in their worlds!
I really enjoy the world you have created and the small city atmosphere the wolves live in. Do you have any plans to expand that world with other types of shifters?
Thanks! Vivian is a jaguar living with the wolves and there are other shifters across the globe, they just haven’t been introduced. As far as expanding and introducing various shifters within the series, yes, I would totally love to. But, some things depend on my publisher so we’ll see what the future holds!
What about other paranormal/supernatural races?
Vampires will be introduced on a bigger scale in Avenger’s Heat (April 2014), and I can tentatively say that in the fifth Moon Shifter book, the heroine will not be a shifter, she will be something else =)

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Typing the end even though I know I’ll have a ton of edits, there’s such a freeing feeling of finishing the first draft.
What is your least favorite part?
Getting stuck in a scene really sucks. It’s so frustrating, but usually it means I’m taking my story in the wrong direction.
The Moon Shifter series in your own words?
Vampires and shifters came out to the world twenty years ago because their leaders deemed it necessary for survival. So whether they want to or not, humans, shifters, vampires and fae are all living side by side and trying not to kill each other. The danger and romance in these stories are layered together to create an action-packed, sometimes darker world that’s a lot of fun to get lost in.
What is coming up next for you?
In May, Heart of the Jaguar, a paranormal novella will be releasing from the Nocturne Cravings line. Then in October, Targeted, the first book in my new Deadly Ops series will be releasing from NAL. I’m insanely excited about that book. So far my Red Stone Security series has been really well received from readers and those are novellas and category length books, so I’m stoked to see how they’ll respond to full length novels in the rom suspense genre. I’m also planning to release at least two books in the RSS series this year too.
What are you working on right now?
Book 2 in my Deadly Ops series.
Do you have any advice or tips to those like me that want to become a published Author someday?
I feel like some things are pretty obvious (don’t give up!) so I would say surround yourself with positive people. It’s a tough business and you’ll need friends to lean on during the rough patches.
Also, be smart with your first contract offer. Don’t be so eager to be published that you sign away all your rights. Because you will regret it later, trust me.
Thanks so much for being here!
Thank you for having me, Larissa!

I am about 60% through Breaking Her Rules. If I wasn't hand raising a litter of kittens I would have finished it in one sitting. It's just that good. I'm a big fan of Katie's Moon Shifter series as well, but I don't think I could pick a favorite. Oh, and on Grimm.... Juliette fan? I think she's served her purpose.
Great interview! This is my first time hearing about Katie. That's why I've become obsessed with book blogs, so I can keep up with great authors and books. I'll definitely be checking out her books!
I LOVE Katie's books! The Moon Shifter is one of my favorites :) I can't wait to read more of Katie's books :)
Thanks so much for having me here today, Larissa! :)
I still have to start this series. I have the first book, Alpha Instinct, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.
I haven't started this series yet. Need to move it up on my TBR pile.
This book looks fantastic! I can't wait to read it :)

This sounds so good can't wait to read it. Thanks for the great giveaway!
This series sounds really good. I hadn't heard much about it until a week and a half or two weeks ago when it started popping up on multiple blogs that I follow. (Of course, I'd been out of the loop for most of two years until the beginning of last month. I'm sure I missed a lot of good books.)
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Paranormal romance is very exciting to read.
