Slate is a quick fired pull into the world of Vivien Slate, a woman who appears to have it all. Great job and family then as the story unveils her happy life unravels when she finds her husband cheating on her. A few of you like me might be quite intrigued into the way the “casting” world works and this now turning into a dating casting call is a different spin on the job role.
This is not a romance type story, the romance is actually very low-key but the sex scenes are not. The book certainly packs it in with the sexual content so this book cannot disappoint for that. It’s a good read but for me there was something missing, I did find the character of Vivien slightly annoying and found her character hard to keep up with through the book. That said this different way of looking into the casting world did make me carry on turning the pages through as it’s a clever way to look at an industry most of us find interesting.
Overall a good book with lots of good things but for me Vivien was not a likeable character and I found myself hoping she wasn’t going to be the main character… a book by Rowe who I’m sure will write many more. I will definitely look out for more of his work!
