Hi all! I am very happy to be participating today on Chloe Neill’s Blog Tour for her new YA release, Hexbound! I really enjoyed the first book in her YA series, Firespell, and Im really looking forward to reading Hexbound.
Chloe was super nice and answered some questions I had and that some of my tweeps asked, not only that, but she is also giving a lucky winner a HEXBOUND Swag Pack! Giveaway deets at the bottom of the post…
Before getting to the interview, let me just thanks the tweeps that helped me with the interview q’s for Chloe. SUPER Thanks to:
@RKCharron @BrookeReviews @blodeuedd83 @harleyquinn0887 @aprilmom00
You guys rock!
Now, let’s get on with the interview hehe. Enjoy…
How did you come up with world you created for the Dark Elite series?
The idea for the series just occurred to me one day, although the inspiration for the various elements--the city beneath Chicago, St. Sophia's, Scout's spells--comes from my research and interesting things that I run into on a day to day basis.
Are there any YA series that inspired you to write your series? Does you have a favorite?
I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman, including Coraline and The Graveyard Book. Unfortunately, I don't really have much time to read otherwise right now, and I try to steer away from reading YA books that are too much like mine.
Why Chicago? Is it hard to write two series that take place in the same city but still not the same world?
I love the history, the architecture and the food. It's not difficult because Merit and Lily see two very different sides to the world. Merit sees the entire city under cover of darkness. Lily sees the city during the daylight--but only really the underground at night. So it's not difficult to keep them separate.
Has you been given the "Key to the city" from the mayor of Chicago for all the people coming to look for Cadogan House?
Lol. Nope. I doubt Mayor Daley is aware of the books. :)
Any special reason for naming the characters as you did?
I search until I find the name that fits the character (and not vice versa).
Do we find out more about what Lily's parents do? What they are hiding and why?
Sorry, those are spoilers!
How many books do you have planed for the Dark Elite Series?
There are currently three books under contract. Whether there are more than three will depend entirely on sales!
Any more plans to write any more different series?
I currently have two series going--the Dark Elite series and the Chicagoland Vampires series. While I have a couple of ideas for other series, I believe those will have to wait until these series are complete. I just don't have any more time!
Thanks for being here Chloe!

Great interview. I am looking forward to Hexbound..just waiting for the mailman to bring it to me :)
I have one of her books in the TBR pile Friday Night Bites.. I'm waiting until I can get the first book befpre reading it.
Very cool! I haven't had the pleasure of reading this series yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Hi, this is my first time coming to your blog, I found it because of the great work you did for Jessica Subject. Your site is amazing and the Chloe's series of books sound so interesting. I'm not familiar with them yet, but I'll be looking to add them to my collection in the future.
I am a hige fan of Neil Gaiman, too! I have had Firespell on my wishlist, so this would be an awesome contest to win. I'd love to read it for a series challenge I'm participating in this year. Thanks!
This series has been on my TBR pile forever! I really have to get my hands on it- it sounds amazing!
:)
I've read all of the books from both series and just can't get enough! These series are both on auto-buy. I really hope that Dark Elite's contract is extended past three books! It looks like we'll need more than one more book to learn Lily's parents' secrets and get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Sebastian.
Yet another series I buy for me but my husband starts and then I still haven't had time for. lol We are the worst couple when it comes to books.
Great giveaway!
I'm surprised that you've written so many books and I haven't heard of any of them! :O Hoping to read them soon!
I really loved Firespell! If Chloe's inspiration came from her research -- I'm really curious to find out what kind of research she does!
What a great interview I really enjoyed it I love the Chicago Vampires series books so much and can't wait for hard bitten!
Can't wait to read!
I enjoy both series, perhaps The Chicagoland Vamps more (the sexual tension perhaps?). I live near Chicago so I enjoy the city site mentions in both.
Such a fun interview and I am anxiously waiting to read her book!
Many thanks, Cindi

Sound great! Thanks for the giveaway!
I'd love to win this! Great interview!
I think the blurb does a great job of summarizing the story and I really don't want to give more away than that, because part of the fun of reading this book is discovering what exactly lurks below the halls of St. Sophia's. Lily Parker is dropped off at St. Sophia's and immediately bonds with her suite mate, Scout, who has been at the school since she was twelve. Scout has a "been there, done that" attitude and takes Lily under her wing. Scout has secrets though - secrets that leave Lily very curious about the "errands" Scout is running that keep her out at night many hours past curfew.
