I'm back, and I've come armed with the answer to the question I left on my post from Friday.
Q: How many Starbucks coffee shops are located in New York, New York?
A: According to NYdailynews.com, there are 171 Starbucks in Manhattan.
So there you have it! I think it's safe to say, we love our coffee beans!
Now on with my silly show....
One of the fantastic things that Larissa will be doing during her time at the Authors After Dark (AAD) Conference, is having the opportunity to sit and talk with many different authors during breakfast, lunch, and dinner! How cool is that! Am I jealous? No, not at all! *shifty eyes*
But, I feel like we shouldn't be left out either. Right?? So I'm handing you a stack of invitations, a pen, and stamped envelopes, to invite six dinner guests of your own choosing to attend the dinner event of the year: YOURS!!
Think about all the authors you've ever wanted to meet, the conversations that could be had, and the dirt you could find out before everyone else. Okay, so you may have to serve up a couple of extra glasses of wine, but still, I think it would be worth the shot! Or maybe it's the unique, dynamic, and fantastically developed characters you wish could pop off the page and hang out with you for the evening! Whoever, or whatever, the case may be, I'm sure you have a list of "Need-To-Meets". I know I do!
My personal assembly of magnificent dinner guests would include a combination of authors and characters. The really hard part would be filling the inadequate number of six chairs. After all, I have a list. However, two names immediately pop into my head when thinking about authors I want to meet and
drill ask a lot of
off-the-wall and slightly inappropriate meaningful questions: J.R. Ward and Jeanine Frost. If their real life persona's are anything like the voices and tones they convey in their writings, I can only imagine they would be my type of girls to hang out with!
And *gasps* much to my own surprise, females would make up the majority of the guests, because the next person invited would be none other than Cat, from Ms. Frost's Night Huntress series. Her snarky comments would help contribute to, what I could only suspect would be, a rather fun evening! I love the strength and determination that she wraps around her vulnerability. I think it's within these characteristic traits that make her seem so life-like, making me want to invite her over for dinner to learn more about her. And she might as well bring Bones along with her too. Their dinner table conversations seem to be entertaining! :)
Last, but not least, would be two of my favorite Black Dagger Brotherhood brothers, Vishous and Butch! While I would ideally rather have Zsadist in place of Butch, I don't think he's ready to come to social events yet. He's still working on his 'issues'. Besides, Butch and Vishous are quite the dynamic duo, don't you agree? They have such a unique relationship, a combination of brotherly devotion and snarky friendship. It's a bond that you almost feel jealous of, with their commitment to one another. While at the same time they have a brutal honesty that can only be found within an very solid friendship, which lends to some fantastic banter! Hence, the invite! So, Ms. Ward can car pool with her two lovable characters if she feels like it, but once they get to my place, they're
Mine!! *giggles*
As I look back over my guest list, I find it interesting that I've chosen two authors and the characters that they've created. While I love so many other authors and characters from other books and series, these six choices were the first that came to mind. I didn't plan it that way at all. Apparently this goes to show how much I enjoy both of these author's voices!
So there it is. My dinner guest party, with entertainment and fun being the two main courses served up for the evening!
So... My question for you today is:
Q: Who would be your six dinner guests? Why?
Having trouble coming up with six? Can you at least think of one or two?
I'll be back on Wednesday, September 22, to carry you away to an enchanted Ball. A Masquerade Ball that is!!
@Bev Hankins - WOW! Your list is just full of history! No doubt it would surely inspire great conversations!
Interesting topic! I chose just characters and it was really hard to limit just to six. :)

Great post. You had me at V & Butch. I know your seating is full, but with this crowd, i wouldn't mind helping serve. ;)
About my list of 6...hmmm need more time to think on that.
I have trouble speaking in the presence of people I admire so I don't think I'd have any lol if I told you I would be awesome around them I'd be all talk and no action!
